“Young Master Whitmore, my daughter kindly took you to the lounge, how could you…take liberties with her!” Diana Blackwood spoke first, her voice trembling with manufactured outrage.
Her accusation rang through the Elite Lounge, drawing gasps from the gathered guests. The implication was clear – she was publicly accusing Adrian Whitmore of indecency.
Sebastian Blackwood had been hoping to arrange this mating alliance for months. Diana’s accusation made it easier for him, without him needing to persuade anyone.
His eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he watched the scene unfold. This was exactly the opportunity he’d been waiting for.

Diana’s face flushed with anger. She stepped forward protectively, wrapping her arms around Isabella’s trembling form.
“How dare you suggest such a thing!” Diana cried, playing the role of a distraught mother perfectly. “My daughter’s purity has been compromised! The Whitmore family owes us an explanation!”
Murmurs rippled through the crowd. The implication of a Blackwood–Whitmore family mating alliance was
being discussed among the guests.
I felt Marcus’s gaze burning into me, his golden eyes dark with something I couldn’t identify.
Marcus stepped forward, his expression increasingly grim. “Young Master Whitmore, I believe you owe us an
explanation.”
My temper flared. “Marcus, you’re being completely biased! Can’t you see what’s really happening here?”
His jaw tightened dangerously. “I’m already tolerating your excessive concern for other men. Don’t forget your promises to me, especially now that you’re carrying my child.”
The words hit me like a physical blow. This domineering side of Marcus was completely unfamiliar to me.

Adrian slowly sat up on the sofa, his amber eyes clearing as he took in the scene. His face was a mask of

“Fine,” he said, his voice cutting through the tension like a blade. “I agree to the mating.”
Isabella’s eyes filled with tears of what looked like joy, but Adrian wasn’t finished.

“Responsibility?” Adrian’s laugh was cold. “Should I call the pack enforcement to investigate exactly what happened here? I’m sure they’d be very interested in the timeline of events.”
Diana’s face went pale. The threat of involving law enforcement would create a scandal that could destroy the Blackwood family’s reputation.
She fell silent, her lips pressed into a thin line.

After Adrian left the lounge with measured, controlled steps, the crowd began to disperse. The evening’s entertainment was clearly over.
Marcus stopped me from leaving, his hand closing around my wrist. “Diana, Isabella, I believe you both owe me an explanation.”
Diana tried to appeal to family loyalty, her voice taking on a pleading tone. “Marcus, we’re all family here. Surely we can handle this matter privately-”
“Family?” Marcus’s voice was dangerously quiet. “You were just trying to mate your daught Whitmore. How exactly does that serve family interests?”

Marcus left the resting room with me, his grip on my arm firm but not painful. Sophia followed behind us, her heels clicking against the marble floor.
Suddenly, Sophia stumbled, her ankle twisting as she fell to the ground with a soft cry of pain.
“Oh!” she gasped, clutching her ankle dramatically.
Marcus immediately turned back, concern flashing across his features. He knelt beside her, his hands gentle. as he examined her injury.
I watched the performance with cold amusement. “How convenient,” I said dryly. “Another perfectly timed
accident.”
Marcus shot me a sharp look. “Elena, go back first. I need to take Sophia to the healing center.”
I didn’t hesitate. “Fine.”
I turned and walked away without looking back, leaving Marcus to deal with his precious Sophia.
Behind me, I heard Sophia’s voice, soft and vulnerable. “Marcus, I’m so sorry for being a burden…”
His response was too quiet for me to hear, but I didn’t care, I was done with their games.
“Elena, I’ll send you back to the healing institute first.”
I didn’t turn around to acknowledge his words. I just kept walking.

“Luna Elena, Alpha Marcus asked me to escort you home.”
I got into the car without a word, settling into the leather seat with a sigh. The evening had been exhausting

My phone buzzed with a message from Marcus, but I turned it off without reading it. I wasn’t in the mood for
his explanations or demands.
Marcus returned to Moonhaven Estate late that night, the house dark and quiet around him. He turned on the
lights in the Great Hall, the warm glow chasing away the shadows.
He found me asleep in the Master Suite, curled up on my side of the bed. For a long moment, he stood in the doorway, watching the rise and fall of my breathing

Marcus’s expression hardened slightly. “Don’t play games with me, Elena. I know about your visit to the apothecary. How long did you plan to keep this from me?”
My blood turned cold. He knew about the pregnancy test. But he didn’t know the result was negative.
“I’ll arrange for the healing institute to give you leave,” he continued, his tone brooking no argument. “Catherine Hayes will help care for you, and I’ll hire additional caregivers. My grandmother will be thrilled to
hear the news.
My mind raced. Could I still get the mate bond severing if he believed I was pregnant?
Marcus seemed to read my thoughts. His eyes narrowed dangerously.
“Don’t even think about concerning yourself with Adrian Whitmore or Nathan Sterling anymore.”
“I have no connection to them,” I said quickly.
Marcus studied my face for a long moment, then released me. He left the Master Suite without another word. his footsteps echoing in the hallway.
I didn’t dwell on his words. I had more pressing concerns.
