Chapter 97: The Alpha’s Ultimatum
(Marcus Blackwood’s POV)
“Accident?” Margaret sneered, her golden cane tapping sharply against the floor. ‘Sophia’s shadow is behind the accidents of Elena’s brother and parents, and you’re telling me it’s an accident?”
I remained silent, staring at the white ceiling above. I had suspected these things for weeks now. The timing
was too convenient, the circumstances too perfect.
But I was always unwilling to believe that Sophia had the intention to harm others. I had known her for ten
years. We had been in love once.
Six years ago, I was unable to confront my family and save her. The guilt had eaten at me ever since.
Even though I knew Sophia had some petty thoughts and had framed Elena, they were just harmless things.
Not enough to take a life.
Margaret closed her eyes deeply and sighed. “If I had known that mating you would make her so unhappy, I
shouldn’t have agreed in the first place.”
Her voice cracked with regret. “Which has led to me neglecting her feelings until now.”
She had clearly agreed to their bond severance, but still wanted them to make do with each other.
I frowned, confusion mixing with anger. “What do you mean you agreed? Wasn’t it your intention to have her
mate with me in the first place?”
My voice rose despite the pain in my chest. “You and her forced Sophia away, without consic feelings.”

Margaret was stunned, then suddenly laughed in anger. “It’s true that I forced Sophia away, but that has
nothing to do with Elena.”
Her eyes blazed with fury. “She didn’t know about you and Sophia when she mated with you.”
The words hit me like a physical blow. I fell silent, leaning against the headboard, lost in thought.
“Forget it,” Margaret said, her voice heavy with finality. “If you want to sever the bond, then sever it. Our Blackwood family owes her, and we’ve paid it back.”
Victoria was shocked and looked at Margaret. “Mother, but Elena is pregnant with the Blackwood family’s child. Even if they sever the bond, we have to wait until-
“She has the right to decide whether to keep the child.” Margaret was resolute and left with her cane.

me with affection.
But there was none.
My jaw moved, and my chest rose and fell with deep breaths. “You hate me?”
Elena looked at me calmly. “No hate. Do you think I still love you?”
I picked up a lighter and lit a cigarette. I didn’t care whether smoking was prohibited in the room.
I took two puffs, a little impatiently, and seemed to choke on it. I hissed when I coughed, pulling at my
wound.
Seeing that Elena still didn’t move, I suddenly laughed. “I can see that you hate me. Do you w
bond?”

Elena broke free from my arms and pressed the nurse call button. She left the ward without stopping for a
moment.
The next day, when I woke up, the gauze on my waist had been changed. I thought Elena had changed it, and
the corners of my lips unconsciously turned up.
She still had a conscience.
Victoria entered the room with Caregiver Helen carrying food, but Elena was nowhere to be seen.
“Where is she?”
“Who?” Victoria asked knowingly, sneering. “Elena? She left last night, didn’t stay with you.”

“She’s really something. Your wound was bleeding last night and she didn’t care. If the nurse hadn’t come in and taken a look, you would have been dead!” /
My face darkened. “She didn’t treat my wound?”
Victoria sat on the sofa and put down her bag. “You expect her to treat your wound? She’d rather you die!”

Victoria used the remote control to move the dining table to the bedside. Remembering something, she said, “Your grandmother had the hospital suspend Sophia.”

The two were enlightened. After agreeing on the price, they agreed to the transaction.
I said goodbye to the two at the restaurant. After watching them leave, I was about to leave when Server Jake stopped me.
