Olivia let out a very weak and heavy groan just before she relaxed back on the armchair in her office,
She still couldn’t help but take her mind to her son. Noah was one hell of a smart kid for six, and the one thing he cared about most in the world was her. Sometimes his intelligence made her question who he took after,
She let out a chuckle, recalling him.
A knock was rasped on the door which distracted Olivia from her thought, and when her gaze went to the door, she uttered..
“Come in.”
The door afterward opened and nurse Gina stepped into the office,
“Dr Olivia, here is Noah’s discharge form.” Gina uttered, handling Olivia a file,
“Thank you nurse, I really appreciate you watching over my son all the time.”
Gina chuckled, “Noah’s such a sweet child, if not the sweetest child I’ve ever come across Dr. Olivia, but there are things every young child gets curious about one in a while.” Gina responded leaving Olivia confused as she arched her brows,
“What’s that? Did Noah ask you any questions?” Olivia retorted as she dropped the file on her desk,
“His father.” Nurse Gina responded and that was the moment Olivia’s heart broke into smaller bits. Noah had never really talked about his father to her, and she always thought he was cool with just her, but maybe she was wrong. Maybe her son just didn’t want to hurt her by talking about someone who wasn’t in their lives,
“What did he say, nurse Gina?” Olivia managed to say after a minute of silence,
“He asked if his father loves him and when I told him yes, he further went to question why his father never came to visit even once. Noah might be a kid but he’s extremely intelligent for a kid just his age. I think you should tell him whatever truth there is to tell him.”
Olivia picked up her handkerchief and rubbed the traces of tears at the base of her eyes, then she nodded,
“I will. Thank you so much, Gina, I’ll take him home today. I think he’s homesick too.” Olivia let out a chuckle as she spoke and once Gina walked out of her office, she let out the breath she had been holding for a few seconds as Gina’s words recurred in her mind,
Honestly, Olivia thought, it wasn’t in her place to blame her son because every child needs a complete family and she was even more thankful that even without one, her son grew up to be the best child she could ever ask for,
He loved her so much and always got worried whenever even a drop of tear escaped her eyes,
Most of the time he would join Stella to ensure that she ate something really good after a hectic day at the hospital, and Olivia couldn’t forget the most important part,
He was one mischievous little kid. Always finding ways to pair her up with a handsome gentleman. Olivia let out a chuckle as she recalled all of thes
She couldn’t tell him the truth, that his father had abandoned them seven years ago because of another woman, and that his father never really loved her from the beginning. It was best to live with a he or the secret of keeping it away from him than
to tell Noah.
Olivia’s thoughts were immediately interrupted by a phone call and she picked it up.

Chapter 14
“Hey, Stella.” She started,
“Hey. How’s Noah? Is he fine now?”

“Yeah. He should be stable again with a few medications but I’ll start keeping a close eye on him. I don’t want his heart condition to be a burden to him or make him miss out on all the great things an almost six–year–old child should enjoy.” Olivia responded and Stella chuckled.
“So he’s coming home today?”
“Yes, he is, Stella,” Olivia replied and Stella giggled.
“Great. Meet you at home by 7. You better cancel every other appointment after seven, else I’ll tell Bryan to come drag your ass out there, you hear me?” Stella threatened and Olivia chuckled even though the smile on her face had faded already. As soon as the call ended, she let out a small smile, picking her pen from the table.
Stella was joking or she was just trying to tease her with Bryan again like she already did almost every day.
Olivia picked up her phone to check their chats only to once again find out that there had not been any response from him for a month now. Every single message she had sent to him every day for a month wasn’t replied to,
What was he doing? How was he feeling? Was he taking really good care of himself wherever he was because she needed to know?
Bryan had lost his grandmother one year ago, the only family he had left, and this had broken him so much that for a year, he left Australia for somewhere she knew nothing about,
The knock on the door snapped Olivia out of her trance, and she fluttered her lashes before responding,
“Please come in.”
When the doctor walked right in, she uttered,
“Doctor Olivia, the patient is awake, and he would like to have a word with you. He is currently with his family,”
Olivia let out a smile hearing this, and she rose to her feet, “Has he been transferred?”
The doctor nodded, “Yes. VIP ward 306 doctor.”
“Alright, thank you. Can you please pass all of my pending patients to the next head doctor, as I will leave by 6 pm? I have somewhere urgent I have to be with my son today.” Olivia instructed and walked out of her office. She finally got to room 306 and rasped a knock on the door before opening it,
“Hello Mr Henry, it’s so nice to see you awake. How do you feel?”
“I feel alive all because of you doctor. You must be blessed to have been able to heal me completely. No other surgeon could have, and I would have been dead if it wasn’t for you.” The man uttered, and Olivia let out a chuckle,
Thank you so much my dearest daughter”
“I was just doing my job, Ms Henry Your husband fought so hard to stay alive and I can see why it was so. It would be so unfair to leave his beautiful wife all alone in this world” Olivia teased, making the young couple chuckle so hard
About 30 minutes later, it was time to leave.
“We would still keep you under close observation for a week or two and you ll be free to go after we confirm you’re fully okay. Doctor Gold, please take over from bere. I have to leave now as my shift is over Olivia informed and once she was out of the ward, she headed for Noah’s ward.

MANY The young energetic boy ran up to her and hugged her tight.

“De a Ange whats yes baby. You’d have to be a much bigger boy to come here again, okay?” She uttered and planted a kiss on his Avedon Walk with Mommy, let’s go see your Aunty.”
She opened the door and carried Noah into the car before heading towards the driver’s seat and igniting the engine.
About an hour later, Olivia pulled up the car and then stepped out of it. The first thing she did was to help her son get out of the car and once again, she took his hand.
She pressed the doorbell and after the third time rasped a knock on the door, but there was still no response,
Maybe Stella had forgotten she was coming over and left the house already. Taking her phone out of her bag, Olivia rurned it on and was about to dial Stella’s number when the door suddenly opened, she widened her eyes at the figure standing right in front of her with a smile on,
“Hey.” He said, but she scoffed out loud and immediately let go of Noah’s hand,
“You jerk Where the hell have you been? You had me worried for a whole year, Bryan.” She uttered and before he could say a word, rushed into his warm embrace.
