Chapter 17
Olivia sat in her office going through some important files when a knock rasped on her door drawing her attention away from what she was doing,
“Come in.” She muttered as she shut the file and adjusted her sitting position,
When the door opened, Tessa walked in holding a file with her.
“Hey, doctor Tessa.” Olivia greeted, and Tessa responded with a nod.
“I need your help with something urgent, doctor Olivia,” Tessa responded.

Olivia had always believed Tessa didn’t like her because since she came to the hospital years ago, she had been making waves and had a more special relationship with the patients that Bryan’s grandma had made her next in charge after Bryan Millers.
Olivia let out a deep sigh as she recalled the woman, but almost immediately discarded the thought,
“What’s wrong?”
“I need to hand this over to Doctor Bryan as soon as possible as it’s urgent, but he’s not in at the moment. I requested a cancellation of all my other shifts because I have a personal urgent matter to attend to. So, I was wondering if I could leave it here and you’ll help me with it.”
Olivia’s eyes darted to the file in Tessa’s hand and she nodded,
“I’m entrusting you with this because you’re the closest to him here.”
“I’ll ensure it gets to Bryan as soon as he arrives. Maybe I’ll head to his apartment in an hour during my break.”
“Thank you so much, doctor Olivia. I really can’t thank you enough for this, and I’ll ensure I repay you no matter what and…”
“Tessa…” Olivia interjected her words with a tone that superseded Tessa’s, making the young keep shut,
“You should hurry up if it’s urgent.’ She muttered and Tessa nodded her head with a chuckle. She handed Olivia the file and hurriedly walked out of the room. The moment the door shut, Olivia took a deep breath in and opened her laptop so she could continue when her eyes suddenly drifted to the file close to her and her eyes widened at the name written in bold alphabetical lexicon,
“FORDHAM GROUPS.”
Her heart thumped hard for a second and she fluttered her lashes multiple times just to ensure she wasn’t seeing things, but nothing changed. The boldly written letters of Ethan’s company were staring back at her,
In a hurry, Olivia picked up the file and tore it open so she could pick out what was in there. One by one, she brought out the papers and began going through them and they only made her heart thump harder,
To Olivia, it almost felt like a dream. The world was indeed a fucking small place no matter how far she was from New York, and this was just a proof of that.
She rose to her feet, tucking back the papers into the big envelope, and tucked her phone into her bag as soon as possible. Bryan’s signature was on that paper already, and with what she had seen, it was a deal between the companies.
How the hell did Bryan know about the Fordham Group and what did he want with them? Why didn’t he tell her about this new development? So many questions ran through Olivia’s mind, and when she got to the entrance, she rushed back to get her car keys,

“Doctor, you’re leaving? What about the patient in ward 430?” A junior who had been earlier approaching Olivia’s office questioned when she saw Olivia heading out,
“Transfer the patient to another doctor immediately. Something very urgent came up and I have to sort it out as soon as possible. I’m done for the day. Ensure that no patient is transferred to me.” Olivia instructed, and without waiting for a response from the lady, she began to rush away, heading to the garage, and when she found her car, she stepped in immediately.
As she dropped her bag on the other side, she let out a deep sigh and brought her phone out of her bag,
“Oh God, pick the call Bryan, please,” Olivia muttered to herself in frustration,
By the look of things, that deal with the Fordham groups was something huge. Fordham Group was after all influential and powerful and they controlled most of the countries too especially the economic sector of New York,
Olivia kept her phone away and ignited her engine after groaning in frustration. Bryan wasn’t picking up the damn calls,
Since his mansion wasn’t so far from the hospital, she arrived in 30 minutes, halted the car, and stepped out of it, taking with her the file and began rushing towards the entrance of the house,
The doorbell rang and Bryan immediately rose to his feet. With no idea of who it could be, he got to the door and turned on the front camera only to see Olivia standing at the entrance.
Bryan opened the door, but before he could utter a word, she stepped into the house and headed for the couch first,
“Hey, are you okay? What’s wrong babe?” Bryan questioned worriedly as he watched her drop the file on the table,
“I need a really good explanation right now,” Olivia responded and he came closer to her,
Seeing the file on the table, he picked it up and opened it,
“About what?”
She suddenly paused,
“Did you sign any deal with the Fordham Group?” Olivia questioned and Bryan nodded his head,
“I did, babe. I wanted this to become a surprise until the last day but I guess you found out before I could even break the news to you.” Bryan uttered and Olivia arched her brows in shock. Surprise? How the hell was this a surprise?
“What do you mean?” Olivia questioned,
She was certain Bryan had no idea about her marriage to Ethan, no one except Stella and there was no way Stella could have said anything to him or even to Dave,
“The one year I took away from Australia was for you, Olivia. Seeing your skills, I think you deserve something better so I built a hospital in your name with the help of the Fordham Group. They need a talented doctor at the moment, and you’re the best, trust me.” Bryan uttered and raised his hand to touch her cheek,
“I’ve watched you grow for more than five years, and I know you deserve this. I just wanted to bring your skills back to your home, babe. Since the Fordham Group was highly interested in a skilled doctor, they were willing to take part in the funding of this project and soon, you’ll head back home.”
Olivia let free the tears at the base of her eyes still staring at Bryan as she couldn’t find the right words to say to him,
His hands were still on her cheeks as they both stared at each other.
So many feelings hovered inside her, wondering whether to be sad or to be happy. Bryan just made her biggest dream come true, and it was unbelievable as it never once crossed Olivia’s mind that someone would love her to the extent of

“I don’t even know what to say, Bryan,” Olivia muttered but he placed his index finger on her lips to shush her up,
“Be happy, that’s all. You don’t have to say anything, just be happy.” Bryan responded and with a giggle that sent tears running down her eyes, Olivia wrapped her arms around his body and hugged him tight,
“Thank you! Thank you so much, Bryan, thank you for everything. You practically gave this life to me and I can’t thank you enough for everything.” Olivia uttered as more tears rolled down her eyes,
He wrapped his arms around her waist, taking in her wonderful scent, and uttered, “I love you, Olivia, and I’ll do just anything for you.”
When they both broke the hug, Bryan outstretched his index finger towards the corner of her eyes and brushed away the tears settling there,
“How do we break the news to Noah? You’ll be leaving the day after tomorrow.”
“Can we shift it? Maybe I need a few more weeks to get ready. I haven’t told Stella, and you, what about you?” Olivia questioned, but Bryan let out a chuckle as he rubbed her left cheek gently,
“We’ll go together, along with Noah, just for the opening, and afterward, we’ll return to Australia, and you can take all the time in the world to head back again.”
“Okay, that’s better. I still find it hard to believe all of this. I want to take you somewhere when we get to New York, Bryan. It’s nowhere special, but I’d like it if you come with me and it would mean a lot.”
Bryan nodded his head,
“Going anywhere with you is special, trust me.” He responded and leaned in for a kiss. When they broke the kiss, Olivia shyly looked away,
“I think I should start going to the hospital now. I don’t want to…”
Bryan kept his arms firmly on her waist, shushing her up with a soft kiss that made her giggle,

What kind of doctor would I be then? I shouldn’t use the privilege just because I have it okay.” She responded, but he didn’t let go of her waist,
“Then stay. Stay with me till it’s time to go pick Noah, is that too much to ask?” Bryan questioned, and when Olivia shook her head in negation, he immediately swept her off her feet, carrying her in his arms, and began heading towards the
stairs….
