The next morning, Olivia woke up without Ethan by her side. It was an unusual feeling, but since she had drawn her signature on that paper, she reminded herself that from now onward, it was best to get used to that feeling.
Rolling over to the other side, a light groan escaped her mouth.
It was still very hard to accept the fact that today would be her last day in a home she had built for two years.
She couldn’t help but think that Ethan had married her simply because she looked like her half–sister, Shirley.
A light knock was rasped on the door. Olivia lazily dragged herself out of the bed and began to head towards the door. The pregnancy was making her tired already even though it was just a few weeks old.
She opened the door to see Ethan standing at the entrance,
“It’s past 10 and you’re still asleep?”
“Why do you even care?” She muttered to herself but he had heard it.
“What was that?”
She rolled her eyes at him and shook her head,
“Nothing, what do you want? If you’ve come to tell me that Shirley will be here soon, thank you, I’ll be leaving soon as well and I’ll make sure to leave before she arrives.”
“Shirley isn’t coming today. I made her not to.”
For a moment, Olivia felt her heart light up in happiness. Did Ethan all of a sudden change his mind and realize that their marriage was still worth giving a chance? Or did he realize that he couldn’t do without her? Tears had already begun to form in her and she was about the speak when Ethan continued,
“My father is coming today and I would need to break the news to him about our divorce today. Whatever you do, do not mention Shirley’s name in our conversation.”
It was at this moment that happiness shattered into pieces, and was replaced with even more heartbreak. Ethan would do anything for Shirley, but it wasn’t the same case for her. He never really told his friends, or business members that he had married her and even the public, he always made her look like his mistress.
“Get ready, he’ll be here in an hour,” Ethan said and began to walk away. As she watched him walk away, Olivia couldn’t help but wonder what happened to him. He was no longer the man she knew as his voice had been so cold to her.
She slammed the door back and sat down on her bed. It was because Ethan’s father liked her more than Shirley that was why he had asked her not to come. Was this how they would keep living their lives if they got married?
She rose to her feet and decided to get ready because after all, this would be the last time she would be seeing her father–in-
law.
About 20 minutes later, Olivia was ready.
She was dressed in black jean pants, and a white top having a heart–shaped at her back. Releasing the bun holding her hair, Olivia let go of her long blonde hair and allowed it to rest on her waist just the way Ethan liked it.
A small smile crept on her lips which immediately almost vanished. For two years she had done nothing but be a devoted wife to her husband. At least she could have sworn that Ethan was starting to feel something for her during their first night months ago, but she never realized it would take more than that for a man who never loved her from the start to fall in love with her.

“Let’s tell him about the baby. Olivia, he deserves to know even if we’re divorced.” Olivia muttered to herself as she applied her perfume. The scent made her recall this was Ethan’s favorite and she never failed to apply it so he would notice her more often. If not for Shirley, she would have believed it was working and her husband was starting to notice her because she did everything to please him.
She couldn’t let her baby suffer the pain of the absence of a father at a tender age so maybe Ethan would be able to table down a solution.
Sadly, that wasn’t just it.
She knew how much Ethan had always wanted a baby so deep down, Olivia hoped the news about the baby would be able to change Ethan’s mind about her. It was a clear sign that she couldn’t do without him.
Finally ready, she began to head out of her room. As Olivia got to the staircase she heard two voices approaching the stairs and immediately froze when she recognized Shirley’s voice
“What the hell is she doing here?” She muttered to herself and began to head back up the stairs. Did Ethan lie to her so Shirley could come to see her miserable after signing the divorce papers?
When these thoughts came to her mind, she scoffed aloud trying to control the tears from forming in her eyes.
“I think you’re in love with her, Ethan?”
Olivia heard Shirley’s voice and immediately halted.
“Why would you think that, Shirley?”
“Because she’s still here even when she’s not supposed to. You could have made her walk away the moment she signed the papers because you don’t love her Ethan, or do you? After all, she stole you away from me and spent two years with you, while I was left to marry a man who made life a living hell for me. Anyone would have developed feelings during this period.”
Shirley was being cruel but Olivia had to patiently wait for Ethan’s answer,
“Not with Olivia. I don’t love her and I’m never going to love her. I married her because of my father. If I had rejected her, I would have lost my inheritance and the company. She would never be able to compete with you, Shirley, and if she couldn’t get my heart after two years, what makes you think she will now? I’m so sorry it took this long, Shirley, but at least we’re going to be together just like it should have been.” Ethan responded.
Nothing had ever broken Olivia like the way Ethan’s words broke her. She finally realized the truth. He married her because of his inheritance and the company so all those little love in the past were just pretense.
As Olivia rubbed her stomach, more tears rolled down her eyes. “What about the baby? Would Ethan even love this baby when he finds out about it?” She questioned herself and fear gripped her heart for a moment, but Shirley’s voice came again,
“The baby’s growing so fast. It’s three months old now, Ethan. I’m so excited we’re going to be parents soon.”
Shirley was pregnant!!
A loud gasp escaped Olivia’s mouth and when she couldn’t hold it in anymore, she whimpered aloud and began running towards her room. As soon as she got it, she slammed the door and locked it
Shirley was pregnant, and her baby was 3 months already, meaning Ethan had been sleeping with her even while they were married. Hitting her chest continuously because of the pain, Olivia fell to her knees with uncontrollable tears streaming down her face.
The only thought on her mind was her baby and right there, she made a decision.
Ethan would never find out about her baby, NEVER! Because as long as she lived, this baby was hers alone and not his,
