“Are you alright?” Ethan questioned staring at Shirley through the mirror. She was troubled about something and it was written on her,
He continued to adjust his tie watching her deep in thought as there was no response from her,
Then he turned towards her,
“Shirley.” His voice echoed louder making Shirley shake in fright,
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Ethan asked. He had been curious since last night especially because it was after the call that she became the way she was. Not only that, Ethan was certain he didn’t know whoever this Zoey was nor had he heard anything about Zoey from Shirley before,
“No baby, I’m fine. I was just thinking of what to wear for the party,” Shirley responded,
“Which is why Luke would be coming over today with a designer. You could make your choice with her.” Ethan responded and watched as Shirley rose to her feet, the expression on her face suddenly turning into a cheerful one,
“Thank goodness,” Shirley uttered and began to walk towards Ethan,
“How long are you going to stay? I should make your favorite dish today.” She uttered,
“I might be late. You don’t need to pick Eva up from school today; I’ll do that myself once it’s time. Dad wants to see her and I think she’ll be able to keep him calm a little.” Ethan responded, but the smile on Shirley’s face turned into a frown,
“He’s never going to include me, is he?” She questioned, but Ethan didn’t respond. Instead, he walked towards the bed and picked up his case,
“I guess to him, I’m still very much the witch who destroyed your marriage with his favorite daughter–in–law, right? I’ve tried everything to prove that I’m way better than Olivia, but…”
“Shirley…” Ethan called angrily as he turned to stare at her,
“You know what happened the last time you saw him? He collapsed hearing the news I had hidden from him for so many years, and it was all your fault, so drop it.” Ethan continued and seeing that he was angry, Shirley decided to calm down,
“I’m sorry. I just don’t like the fact that he’s always all about Olivia. How do you think I feel about it, Ethan?”
“Well I’m sorry you feel that way about someone who is no longer in our lives, Shirley, but you need to understand that I’ll take time for him to forget all about her. It just doesn’t happen in a day.”
As soon as Ethan picked his his suitcase, he walked past Shirley and began to head out of the room. The anger was still so very much evident in his eyes as once again, she had reminded him about Olivia,
When he got out of the room and to the living room, Eva rushed towards him,
“Daddy.” She called in excitement as she rose from the sofa into his arms and as soon as he dropped his case, he picked her up,
“How’s my big baby today?”
“I’m fine Daddy.”
“So tell you what? You and I are going on a date today baby. How about we go visit Grandpa and cheer him up? Would you like that?” Ethan questioned and Eva nodded her head instantly, but he heard Shirley’s voice from behind,

“I’ll come.” She uttered, making Ethan turn around to look at her,

“Please let me come, Ethan. All I want is a relationship with him and nothing more. It’s not right that he doesn’t see me as family after so many years and if I’m going to apologize for everything, then I will.” Shirley uttered, with tears at the brink of dropping from her eyes,
Seeing her this way, Ethan heaved deeply, and uttered, “Alright. I’ll come pick you both up by 5 pm and we can all go together to see him. I have to leave for work now.”
He dropped Eva on the couch and pecked her forehead, “See you soon baby, I love you.” He muttered with a smile and began to walk out of the room. As soon as the door was shut behind them, Shirley hurried towards the window and once she was certain Ethan was out of the building, she hurriedly ran towards her room completely ignoring her daughter,
“Pick up, pick it, Zoey, damn it,” Shirley muttered to herself as she paced around the room while the phone repeatedly kept ringing,
Even after the fifth time, there was still no response from the other side, and frustratingly, she wrecked her fingers into her hair,
She had to ensure that Kendra was out of that hell with her daughter alive and since she had heard nothing about them, her heart kept thumping with so much worry,
What if Ethan managed to catch on to her secrets with all the countless secret calls that she was making at night? Last night was a close call, but thankfully, she had dodged the bullet with a cover,
“Please Zoey, please pick up,” Shirley muttered again, biting the tip of her finger out of anxiety,
A knock was rasped on the door, making her gasp in shock, but the nanny’s voice came next,
“Ma’am, Eva’s ready for school,” Mandy uttered, but Shirley sneered angrily. The crazy woman had almost given her a heart attack,
She rushed towards the door and opened it,
“Have your legs been chopped off? Then take her to school, you dimwit
Hurry up, I need her out of my hair immediately.” Shirley yelled in anger making the young lady flinch in fear,
“Get the hell away!” Her voice came again when Mandy remained standing in her position, and in a hurry, Mandy rushed
away.
Shirley hurried back into the room, heading towards the bed. In a bit to calm herself down, she picked up a pillow and threw it towards the wall, but almost immediately, her phone began ringing and it was Zoey,
Within a second, the call was answered,
“Zoey, Zoey, is that you? Please tell me Kendra’s safe, and…”
“So you’re alive and hiding from your dead husband Shirley?” She heard a deep baritone voice instead, felt every part of her body freeze with shock,
There was no response from Shirley until after a few seconds,
“D…. Donald?”
“I have them both, little wifey. Where the fucking hell are you? Come back to me and I’m going to take it easy, Shirley, I promise. A further piece of surprise, Shirley, I killed the doctor and I got to find out one thing,” Shirley swallowed a lump of

After the short–lived silence, she heard his cold voice speak,
“Where is my child?”
At that instance, Shirley hurriedly took the phone away from her ear, ended the call, and smashed every single part into pieces.
“No! He can’t find me. Stay away from me Donald, stay away!” she yelled at the top of her voice before falling to the ground and passing out.
