“Why?” Olivia questioned, inwardly scolding herself for being too inquisitive with just hearing what she had wanted Ethan to utter by himself,

“I guess he’s calling again. He must be really worried about you.”
“Is that Bryan?” Olivia questioned, but there was no response as he kept staring at her. The worried look on Olivia’s face only made him mad inside, but at the moment he had to comply if he wanted to be in the same room with her,
“It is love. It’s I am and I guess he just doesn’t want to give up.” Ethan uttered,
“I want to talk to him,” Olivia yelled as she tried to drag the phone from Ethan, but she couldn’t reach it because even while they were both on the bed, he was way taller than her,
“You’ll talk to him once it’s bright. You need all the rest you can get,”
“Give me the damn phone, or I’m going to stand up here and walk out of here, and you dare not stop me, Ethan,” Olivia yelled while Ethan scoffed,
Indeed, she had changed so much, and maybe he liked this version of her better. Strong, extremely beautiful, intelligent, beautiful, and sharp–mouthed. There was no way this Olivia would not be interesting,
Ethan thought, but snapped out of his thoughts when she grabbed his arms,

“No. It’s not like I’m going to harm you or anything. He should be thanking me instead for saving your life, Olivia and not trying to get my phone sick with so many phone calls,” Ethan responded coldly to her,
Hearing this, Olivia pushed the duvet around her body away and rose to her feet. Her legs remained wobbly, but this was to prove a point to Ethan, and when she tried to fall again, he caught hold of her from the waist and forcefully made her lay back on the bed,
“Fine, you win.”
“Great.” She uttered and outstretched her hand so she could collect his phone.
Bryan handed it to her and once she dialed Bryan’s number, the call was answered immediately,
“You fuck….”
“Hey, it’s me, Bryan, it’s me.” Olivia uttered,
“Olívia? Goodness, I was fucking so worried about you. I had to put Noah to sleep on my own without you and he hated going to bed without you by his side.”
“I’m so sorry, Bryan, I am. I just had a little panic attack and I needed a lot of space to breathe. I’ll explain everything tomorrow, okay? I promise.” Oliver responded
“No damn way babe…” Bryan uttered angrily but Olivia could have sworn she heard a grunt from Ethan before she continued to listen,
“Tell me where the hell you are and I’ll come pick you up immediately.”
Olivia cocked her head towards Ethan and he instantly shook his head in negation,

“He would never dare. We are partners, remember, and maybe MrFordham’sm’s first duty is to protect me instead. You just have to believe me, okay, I’ll be fine, and I’ll head back very early tomorrow.” Olivia assured and after a few seconds, Bryan agreed,

“I’d like it if you explain to your fiance your whereabouts so she doesn’t make any speculations.” Olivia uttered as soon as Ethan collected his phone,
“Wouldn’t it be better if she doesn’t know anything at all just to be on the safer side? I just want you out of harm’s way.”

“Let’s see who gets in harm’s way.” She uttered and drew the duvet closer to her body properly,
“I have to rest, Mr Fordham, as I might have a long day tonight. Thank you for saving me.” Olivia uttered closely and turned towards the other side,
As she shut her eyes, everywhere became silent until she heard Ethan’s voice again,
“My dad missed you so much.”
Olivia didn’t give a response,
“He would talk about you every day and would remind me every damn day how big of a fool I was for letting a woman like you go easily.”
There was still silence from Olivia with her eyes shut as all she could do was listen with her eyes shut and pretend to be asleep,
It was damn easier that way, but suddenly Ethan became silent for minutes, and Olivia thought that was it.. Maybe that was indeed all he had to say,
“I searched everywhere for you and I almost thought I had lost you forever. The thought of you gone forever ruined an essential part of me completely, and I couldn’t function properly for years.” Ethan uttered, bearing in mind that pouring out his heart would change nothing,
But he still couldn’t deny the fact that her moving on from him completely was so damn hurtful.

But now that she was back, it seemed as if his feelings for her were igniting even more than last time. The change in her was drawing him even more. She was stronger now, confident, and extremely hot and one thing Ethan knew was that it wasn’t going to be easy.
The first step in getting his ex–wife back was to keep her in New York for as long as possible to find out whose child Noah was because there was an unimaginable resemblance between the two of them. It just couldn’t be a coincidence that Noah had also thought he was his father, could it?
And hopefully, he’d be able to show her just how much he had been miserable without her,

“I drove her and your daughter back to the house,”
“Alright, thank you, Luke; I’ll make sure to call her before going to bed. I need you to do something important for me, Luke.” Ethan said,
“What is it, sir?”
“We would have to change contract terms with GRO hospital. Tomorrow, we will prepare the new contract and send it as soon as possible before the opening of the hospital. I’ll send you every essential thing that needs to be added to the new contract.” Ethan started,
“Why sir?” Luke asked before Ethan could continue, but he remained silent as he cocked his head back to look at Olivia,
“I need to confirm something very important. And more importantly, ensure that my father is transferred to the hospital
tomorrow.”
“Okay, sir. I’ll do as you asked.” Luke responded and the call ended after that. He had been present at the party and he knew what Ethan was up to,

Ethan sighed deeply, dropping his phone back on the table. Since the couch was very comfortable, he laid down on it and drifted off to sleep soon afterward
The next morning, Olivia woke up to find herself on a large bed with a duvet still around her body,
When her sight became clear enough, she realized where she was, and immediately sat upright on the bed. Her gaze found the wall clock and then she realized the time was almost close to 7 am.
The last thing she recalled was hearing Ethan talk about his father yesterday and when he had paused, she drifted off to sleep.
Did he say something else? What more had he said after that, or was it just that his father missed her so much? Olivia heaved deeply as she called Mr Henry Fordham, he was the closest person she had to a father and family since the man had loved her mother when she was still a child,
During the period of her parents divorce and the period when her mother was always hurting herself, crying, and in pain, he never failed to visit them and offer the little help he could by cheering her up,
It turned out that Ethan’s father and Olivia’s mother were high schoolmates and during college, they both went their separate ways as Olivia’s mother had traveled out of the country to get a medical degree,

When the opportunity presented itself, he left her and went for his mistress,

When she rose to her feet, she grabbed her bag from the drawer close to the bed, and began to tiptoe toward the door,

“Darn it” she muttered in a low tone, suddenly realizing that this was one of Ethan’s hotels. She turned around, taking a look at the room only to recall that it was his in the hotel. Ethan always had a special room to himself in all of his hotels, so it

“Fuck, where’s the card!” She mumbled to herself, and her eyes suddenly drifted to Ethan who was still asleep.
“It had to be in his suit pocket‘ Olivia thought and began walking towards the couch where Ethan’s jacket lay on the
armrest
“Please stay still.” Her subconscious mind muttered as she successfully tucked her hand into the pocket of the jacket, and just when Olivia was finally able to locate the card, Ethan’s strong arm pulled her so close to his face that their lips met.
