Chapter 36
“What about your son? Isn’t he going to be worried about you?” Ethan questioned standing behind Olivia with his hand tucked into his pocket. He had earlier stepped out of the room to answer a call from Shirley and when he came back unti the room, the sight of Olivia and Eva made a smile appear on his face,
He had been staring at them for about a minute,
“He would but Bryan’s going to take good care of him until I return home.” Olivia responded without cocking her head back to stare at Ethan. It was better not to stare at him so her emotions wouldn’t take control over her,
“Is Eva going to be alright?” Ethan questioned and finally Olivia cocked her head back at him,
All she could see in his eyes was so much worry. Ethan was really really a goof father just like she knew he would be from the very beginning
“Thankfully, her cancer isn’t wild or stubborn since it’s leukemia. Through chemotherapy, we would be able to kill the cancer cells.” Olivia responded, trying as hard as possible not to stare at Ethan’s eyes for as long as possible.
She darted her gaze back to Eva, and rubbed her hair slowly,
“But it isn’t going to be me.” The words left Olivia’s mouth a few minutes afterward,
“I won’t be treating her, Ethan. You could get the best doctors out there to get your daughter treated and she would be fine. They would carry out a bone marrow transplant afterward to avoid future leukemia.” Olivia continued and finally averted her gaze to him,
To her, it was best to avoid working closely together with Ethan and having to see his face every day because of his daughter,
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to go home.”
Ethan rose to his feet and began walking towards Olivia. When he got to her, he held her wrist as he stared at her,
“Let’s talk, please.”
“Talk about what?”
He stared at Eva who was already half asleep, and then back at Olivia. When she understood that Ethan wanted their conversation somewhere far away from his daughter, she nodded her head and began to follow him outside the ward,
“I know this is a lot to ask, Olivia, but for the sake of my daughter, can we put the past behind us and get her treated? She’s all I’ve got right now and it’s just you. You’re the only one I can trust to keep my daughter safe.” Ethan uttered, but deep down those words hurt Olivia so much,
He fucking had a son too, and it was even more sad that he couldn’t recognize his son,
“I….”
“I believe I have a lot of enemies out there, and my daughter could be my only witness; that’s why I want it to be no one else but you, Olivia. I’ll do whatever you want in return.” He continued, interjecting Olivia before she could complete with her, and with a deep breath, she said,
“This would be the only and last favor, Ethan, and after this, you have to promise to stay as far away from me and my family as possible. I believe the contract lasts for only a few months until your father is fully alright.”

Chapter 36
Ethan went silent immediately when he heard those words from Olivia. She might have told him that she wanted him to be far away from her, but her eyes were certainly saying something else. Ethan had never realized it but through their two- year marriage, he had unknowingly figured out so much about Olivia
“Is that what you want because I don’t want that.” He responded and it almost looked like Olivia was going to change her mind, but she curled her fingers into fists and responded,
“Yes, Ethan, that’s exactly what I want. I have a new family now and I plan on sticking by their side till the end.”
Now those emotions were gone in her eyes. The emotions that made Ethan believe earlier that Olivia wanted something different from what she was requesting,
“Fine, I’ll do as you wish, Olivia.” He uttered and without saying any more, walked past her and began heading to the
room,
“What took you so long?” Shirley questioned as she drank from the glass of water in front of her. The man in a black cap along with a black hoodie and black sunglasses tucked his hand inside his pocket while he approached her,
“I had to get as much information as I could get before coming to you, ma’am.”
“Do a better job else the deal between us would be over soon. Do you understand?” She threatened and he nodded his head,
“Seat.”
He took his seat, and drew the long envelope towards Shirley,
“Are there pictures?”
“Yes ma’am.” He responded and as soon as Shirley picked up the envelope, she tore it open,
A little smile stretched out of Shirley’s lips as she stared at the photos in front of her. “My precious daughter is so big now. What about the bastard? What’s he doing now?”
“He’s still trying his best to find you, ma’am. I advise you to lie low for as long as you can, or, better still, you need me, Fordham. His wealth and power would be able to keep you safe for as long as possible till you get all the money you want.”
Shirley bit her lower lips as she stared at the picture of the man whom she despised so much. The same man who had ruined her life so many years ago and she had barely escaped with a baby in her womb,
Leaving her first daughter behind was the only option she had to survive and when the opportunity came, Shirley didn’t fail to take it,
“You’re right. There’s nothing the fucking bastard cares about more than money and more money. I just need to have more than enough money to offer him for my full freedom, and I can have my life back.”
“How do you do that? It’s going to be a lot.” The man questioned and when Shirley gulped down the entire water in the glass, she let out a smirk as her plan kept replaying itself in her mind,
“Ethan Fordham’s wealth is just enough to buy my freedom and live the life I deserve, and I’m going to get it no matter what it fucking takes
