Chapter 39
Chapter 39
Olivia ended the call and brought her phone down to her gaze. Ethan’s secretary had just called her to inform her that Ethan had granted her request for a meeting, but yet, she had no idea why her heart was thumping so hard afterwards.
When Olivia recalled what she had told Ethan three days ago, she shut her eyes on regret.
Would he still help her even after telling him that her greatest regret was ever falling in love with him 10 years ago, and also their 2 years of marriage? She had regretted all of this, but one thing Olivia didn’t regret was the son they had… Noah was her greatest joy and achievement in the long two–year marriage that was hell,
He had taken most of Ethan’s inner features, but his looks at a tender age were from her and she was thankful for that because it had made Ethan not recognize him as his son from the beginning,
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Bryan’s voice snapped Olivia out of her trance instantly,
He came towards her and sat down next to her,
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine,” Olivia murmured in response, but the look on her face told Bryan that everything wasn’t okay,
He held her hand afterward, “Is this about the investors? I hate seeing you this way, baby.” Bryan uttered, but Olivia shook her head in negation,
“He accepted.” She muttered sharply but in return, Bryan gazed at her confusedly,
“Ethan agreed to my meeting request, Bryan, but I think I want to stay Back.”
“What? Why?”
“Because he has every right to reject the need to help me out, Bryan. What if he disagrees completely and decides to pull out of investing in the hospital once I tell him the truth? It’s going to be a disaster if we lose him at the end of the day.”
“I hate to say this, but he cares about you too much to reject you, babe,” Bryan uttered, but she looked at him with shock in her eyes. “But I trust you, babe.” He continued and Olivia smiled at him. She had never believed that Ethan cared about her, but there was no need to argue over it with Bryan,
“Good morning Mommy.” Noah’s voice interrupted them as the young lad happily ran down the stairs to come to meet Olivia. As she ran, Olivia rose to her feet and hurried towards him, “Easy there, baby, you’re going to fall.” She muttered and lowered her body for a tight hug,
“Good morning, my love. Did you sleep well?”
“I did mommy, did you sleep well?” Noah questioned with a soft voice and Olivia chuckled, “You’re such a sweet boy, Noah. I slept well, thank you for asking.”
“You promised the weekend off to spend time with me, Mommy. Will you keep to your promise?”
Olivia chuckled at her son as she gently rubbed his hair..“I’m so proud I have such a smart boy who never forgets anything. I didn’t forget baby, and I promise to keep to my word. Uncle Bryan will get you everything you need while I’m away today, baby.”

Noah nodded his head and she gently planted a kiss on his forehead,
“You should start getting ready now; you don’t want to be late, my love,” Bryan interjected and Olivia rose to her feet. She
nodded her head as she stared at me,
“Noah, come on, let’s go play some video games.”
“Yayyyy.” He yelled and began rushing towards the couch while Olivia chuckled at her happy son, “I’ll take good care of him, baby, just go. Whatever happens and you can’t handle it, call me okay.”
“I will, thank you love.” She responded and headed towards the stairs,
About 25 minutes later, Olivia got ready to leave. She stepped into the car and waved goodbye to Noah and Bryan before igniting the engine,
The car finally halted right in front of the company Olivia could never forget. The company she had once worked in as Ethan’s secretary so many years ago without even realizing that she was going to get married to him,
Olivia let out a deep sigh and held her bag across her shoulder tight, then she began to walk in,
It was just a meeting, and such discussion would benefit Ethan as well, nevertheless, he could still decline it and that was her greatest fear,
“Hello, I’m Olivia Rowan, I have a scheduled meeting with Ethan Fordham in 5 minutes,” Olivia muttered nicely to the lady at the reception, and after going through her computer, the lady nodded her head,
“Take the door to your left, 27th floor, and you’ll see his office.” She heard and nodded her head,
Of course, she could find her way to Ethan’s office all by herself, but Olivia still nodded her head like a first–timer,
Thank you.” She muttered and began walking away. As the elevator door shut, she clasped her palms together and waited till it opened,
The floor was just as she remembered so many years ago and Ethan’s office was on the left,
Standing at the entrance of Ethan’s office, Olivia suddenly recalled one of the moments she had worked as Ethan’s secretary in the company. He was always so mean to her, yet she had fallen so hard for his sharp looks and, most especially,y, his intelligence.
She slid out of her thought and rasped a knock on the door,
“Come in.” The voice answered so quickly, almost as if he was expecting her. She held the doorknob and opened the door but once the corners of Ethan’s eyes spotted Olivia, he darted his gaze to his laptop almost immediately only for him to raise them again at her,
“Have a seat.” He muttered in a low tone and watched as she sluggishly walked towards the seat,
There was a sudden silence between them, with Olivia contemplating her words over and over again, and Ethan waiting to hear what she had to say,
“You don’t feel comfortable here? We could talk where…”
“It’s fine Eth…. I’m sorry, Mr Fordham. I’m okay here.” Olivia interjected as she clasped her palms with each other on her thighs,
She cleared her throat aloud and was about to start talking when a knock was rasped on the door, “Come in.” Ethan announced and when the door was opened, Luke stepped in holding two cups of coffee,
“Thank you, Luke.‘ Ethan uttered as soon as Luke dropped it on the table and walked out of the office,

“Here, have a cup of coffee, Olivia. It’s just the way you like it without extra sugar.”
His last word made her arch her brows as she stared at him. How did Ethan know just how she loved her coffee,
10 years ago, she was the one getting the coffee and she had formed the habit of adding more sugar to her, but if there was one thing Olivia was certain of, it was the fact that she had never told Ethan about this,
Not wanting to complicate matters, she collected the coffee,
“Thank you so much for the warm welcome Mr, Fordham. I think I’ll go straight to the point now.”
Ethan smiled at her and nodded his head, but when it was time for her to talk, he could see fear in her eyes. What the hell did she have to tell him that was making her so hesitant? He thought, waiting for a response until he heard,
“I need your help, Ethan, the hospital is going down the drain.”
