“What?” Ethan asked impatiently, not caring to raise his head from the files his secretary had placed on his desk that needed his signatura and pantes.
“Your wife is here to see you.”
“My wife?” His tone had the secretary shaking from head to toe in fright
“I’m sorry, I meant Miss Shirley is here to see you.”
“Didn’t I tell you I do not want to see anyone, and you should send every visitor back?” He reminded, staring at her with an eyebrow raised in question
“I’m so sorry, sir, I tried to tell her this, but she insisted and refused to…. Before the secretary could complete her statement, Shirley burst into the office, ignoring the frightened secretary trying to stop her
Ethan released a loud groan
“You may leave.” He directed towards the secretary as he pulled at the tie knotted at his neck
“I didn’t realize we had gone up to the point where I would have to make an appointment to see you.”
“Well, you should have realized that you are here for what?” Ethan asked, focusing his attention back on the paperwork on the table
“I’m here to take Eva back.”
Ethan’s head shot up, his glare piercing Shirley “Have you been drinking? Is that why you are here, spewing rubbish from your mouth?” He growled
“I’m very much sober, if you must know. I’m just here to take my daughter back.”
“What daughter? The one you had no kind of maternal affection for? The same one you left to her devices and never cared for.” Ethan said with a dry chuckle, and continued, “What about during her therapy, or are you forgetting every damn thing you made her go through? You never for once cared or loved her, so what do you
want?”
His fist crumpled one of the papers on the table
“Do you have any proof of that?” Shirley asked as she took a seat in front of Ethan, crossing her legs
“W.. what?” He stuttered in surprise
“I thought as much.”
“You are vile.” He growled in anger
Shirley released a breath that she had been holding, her eyes filling up with tears. It would be easier if she switched up her emotions. She knew how to do that better after all for the sake of sympathy,

“Please, you’ve seen it from your dad’s death that life is so short, and I can’t imagine something happening to my bally in my strence (woudari to bear it at all. Ethan, you have to understand that I just want to be near my daughter; I want to be able to be the mother she hasn’t had in a whol need to make her happy and provide for her.” Shirley pleaded, tears rolling down her cheeks
“What is your goal? What game are you trying to play right now? What exactly do you want, because I know you. You are never remorseful, you only care and think about yourself, so y you acting like you care so much about Eva right now is total bullshit. So tell me, what is your game? What eruet intentions do you have?” Ethan asked with a sneer
“Nothing, I don’t have any bad intentions. I honestly just want to be with my daughter. Initially, I had wanted to threaten you into taking her, but I would not want you to go through what I went through from being separated from her. I know how much you love her and how you can’t live without her, this was the only compromise we could both make.
His fierce expression melted to something akin to compassion
“Is that all you want?”
“Please give me a job at your company,” Shirley asked
He stared at her with wide eyes
“And why should I?”
“I don’t have any means of income, and I do not want to rely on you or anything of yours. I want to be my own person. The only thing I’m interested in right now is being able to provide a comfortable life for our daughter. I do not care what position I am assigned to, I would be grateful. I have my resumé with me, you know my educational background and my history. You know my degree in business and investment would add a lot of value to your company, especially with the upcoming investment plans with Dr. Bio. I have prepared a comprehensive investment strategy, and I know you’ve been trying to get in contact with the CEO, James Arthur. I have contacted him and made reservations at the Shining Tower for 8 pm tonight.”
Shirley said much to the surprise of Ethan while he was trying to perceive if there was another motive for her requests or if this was one of her games, but he couldn’t sift out anything
