“Mummy, when can I go and see Eva?” Noah asked Olivia as she entered the dining room,
“Well, I would think about that after you have decided to eat your dinner,” Olivia said to him as she ruffled his hair
“But…”
“No buts, Noah, you need to eat your dinner now before Mummy gets mad. I had your favorite prepared, and you are throwing a fit and refusing to eat up. That is not what a good boy does.” Olivia scolded
Noah’s face became downcast, his lips quivering from being scolded by Olivia
“I’m sorry, mummy.”
“That’s fine, come here, I will feed you with my hands,” Olivia muttered with a smile as Noah scurried into her arms and she began feeding him the plate of creamy pasta and a glass of milk in front of her
After a few minutes, the plate of pasta was empty, and Noah had finished drinking the glass of milk as well,
“Hey, you’ve gotten yourself a milk mustache.” Olivia cooed as she tickled Noah, who wriggled in her arms, laughing
“Mummy”
“Yes, baby..” she replied as she wiped off Noah’s mouth
“Am I going to see Eva soon? She is going to miss me a lot. Eva does not like it when I am far away from her.”
Olivia paused at his words. They were the words of an innocent child; you just cared about his sister so much, but she had no idea how they had both gotten close in such a manner.
She hated allowing adult drama to affect the kids, but it seemed like Shirley was hell–bent on separating the kids. She wished there was something she could do about it, but what was the best way to tell Noah that the probability of him hanging out with Eva again was slim to none
“Baby, you’re going to see Eva soon. She just needs to spend some time with her mum.” Olivia said instead
“But her mum is not nice; she is mean, and she hurts Eva,” Noah whined, his forehead lined with worry
Olivia smoothed the crease on his forehead “Can you remember the story of the prince and the princess I told you about, how the princess hurt the prince and left, but had a change of heart and returned?”
She asked Noah, and he nodded in affirmation
“In that story, the prince loved the princess so much, but the princess wanted something more: adventure; She wanted to be free, and she did not want any responsibility holding her down. Despite all the love the prince showed her, she was resistant to it. She decided to leave the prince to pursue her dreams, but when things got so hard for her, she realized that her dreams were meaningless without the prince, so she had a change of heart and
returned home.
This is just like that: Eva’s mum has changed and wants to be close to Eva; we should always give people a second chance to right their wrongs, shouldn’t We?”
“Yes, we should.”
Noah believed her and rested easy, but she could only hope that there was a truth to what she said and that Shirley had changed for good.
“Hey, that took a while,” Bryan said as Olivia came out of the bathroom and sat in front of her dressing mirror, doing her night care routine

Chapter 65
“Yeah, the separation is really hard on him. It took a lot of coaxing to get him to eat and another set of coaxing to get him to go to bed. Olivia murmured as she applied her body lotion to her skin
Bryan closed the book he had been reading and dropped it on the nightstand
“I had almost fallen asleep waiting for you.
“Sorry, you should have, you probably had a long day in the office.
“It is fine; Noah always comes first; you know that I have no problems with that,” Bryan responded, his reply sending a small smile to Olivia’s face
“You are always so understanding,” Olivia said to him, her eyes locking with his through the mirror
The guilt of the past week coursed through her; she felt so guilty because she cheated on Bryan with someone like Ethan, who just used ber and threw
her aside
When Ethan had been trying to fan their old flame back, she had been so resistant. She had not realized she had begun to grow feelings for him till this last week when he had stopped chasing after her
After that night, something had shifted in her, and she had even entertained the idea of breaking things off with Bryan to be with Ethan after the divorce had been finalized
At this point, all she could think of was the fact that she was so glad that she had not acted rashly over some measly feelings. She was no longer a young girl, even if she did have feelings for Ethan, he was not the kind of guy she needed to settle with
With Ethan, Olivia felt secure, she felt happy, and the passion burned ever so bright. What was between them was blinding, it was painful, but with Bryan, she just felt comfort and stability, and maybe that was what she and Noah needed, stability
Bryan was very accepting of Noah, and he had not done anything to show otherwise. Ethan had made her realize tonight that, despite everything, he had not changed; he ran away at any slight problem. And she could not let such instability remain in Noah’s life
Noah needed a father who would be there for him at all moments, and Bryan was the best for that
The feelings would fade, she knew that she just hoped that they would fade sooner. Olivia thought as she got under the covers and crawled into Bryan’s waiting arms
“You’re so beautiful, you know that, right?”
She looked up at him and smiled
“I can’t wait for us to get married and make you all mine,” Bryan said, feeling Olivia with a sinking feeling in her gut.
Still, Olivia knew that despite all the pep talk, the thought of getting married to Bryan was still a huge pill to swallow, but the right pill nevertheless.
