Chapter 68
Having round had brightened Noah up. He had been sulking about having to give Eva space to spend time with Shirley, and she had almost exhausted the excuses that she could come up with.
Olivia knew it was not an easy decision on Ethan’s part to allow her leave with Eva, but he had to because it was what Eva needed now
Since she had gotten back with the kids, they had been holed up in the playroom, not wanting to be separated from each other.
They had insisted they eat together, and they also wanted to sleep in the same room
The friendship and connection they had were beautiful, but it seemed that they had begun to depend on each other so much that it had started to
become detrimental.
But how on earth was she going to separate them and get them not to be too reliant on themselves
She opened the door to the playroom and found the kids had fallen asleep, their hands entwined together; an adorable sight to behold
Closing the door tightly, Olivia went to her room suddenly remembering Bryan had said that he would not be coming home
The latest project that he had begun working on was one of great interest to him, he had been keeping late nights for it
She was also aware that Ethan was struggling with the same project, maybe it was just their line of work. But for some reason, why did it seem like Bryan wanted everything that Ethan had, or was it vice versa?
“Nanny!”
Olivia called out as she put on her tear–drop earrings.
Today was an important day for her. With the events of the past few weeks, she needed something like this to help her forget for a short while before she had to go back to reality.
“Yes, ma’am.” The nanny replied as Olivia put on her Louboutin heels.
“Are the kids done eating?” Olivia asked as she took one last look at the mirror, grabbed her clutch, and began heading downstairs
She was wearing a white suit, pants, and a jacket with a red corset top underneath the jacket.
Her hair was styled in a crown bun, her makeup was light, just enough to accentuate her features, and she donned a red matte lipstick, making her stand
out
“Yes, ma’am, they are.”
“Okay, thank you. I will drop them at school on my way to work.”
“Eva, Noah!” She called out, and the kids came running out to meet her
“Come on, get into the car, we don’t want to be late to school, do we?”
The kids shook their heads in unison, Eva’s double ponytails swinging into Noah’s face and Noah scrunched his face but gave a little smil
Olivia could not help but smile at that exchange; sometimes they acted like an old couple.
“Take the bags and their lunch packs to the car,” Olivia told the nanny, and she led the kids to the car.
Having buckled them in safely, she drove out of the house

Chapter 68
“Mummy” Noah broke the silence after a while
“Yes, my love,” Olivia replied
“After school, can we go to the arcade? I want to show Eva my new game.” Noah asked
“Yes, Miss Olivia, can we?” Eva piped up
“Hmmm” Olivia pursed her lips instead, deep in thought
“I don’t know about that.”
“Mummyyyyy“, “Miss Olivia” The kids whined in unison
“Fine, but on one condition.” She said, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips
“What?” They asked excitedly
“Both of you are going to behave well in school, no cutting of hair this time.” At that stare, she gave a pointed look to Noah through the overhead mirror watching as he bowed his head sheepishly
“And no looking for trouble, you must finish your lunch nanny packed for you, and also eat when you’re back home. You must eat all the veggies, deal?”
The kids scrunched their noses, ready to interject
“It is either that or no games.”
They quietened down immediately
“Okay, mummy..” “Okay, Miss Olivia.”
She gave a wide smile watching them being escorted into the school. Once they were both in, she ignited the car once again, and drove away, heading for
the company.
As Olivia got into the meeting room,
instead of when it should be Bryan.
she stared around, her gaze searching earnestly for Ethan. He had been the first person that came to her mind
But something was absolutely weird. Ethan was never this late to these important conferences
Olivia thought, as her eyes searched the conference room for any sign of him, but she couldn’t find him
Bryan was already seated, looking satisfied, but Ethan was nowhere to be seen.
Olivia thought of calling him, but then as she was about to dial the number, she remembered what he did to get her thumb high midair
There had to be a reason for his switch–up, right? Was he pushing her away because of guilt, or what was it
And the stuff with Shirley, he was supposed to divorce her, not bring her back. But not only did he bring her back, he gave her a job in his company, and he let her get close to Eva, despite everything she had done.
He even let Shirley insult him and let her get away with hitting Noah.
Was it that Shirley had something above his head? Was she threatening or blackmailing him with something
It had to be why he was acting the way he was, because it seemed so confusing.
Was she supposed to press on to know why he had suddenly started acting like a jerk, or was she supposed to just move on with her life? Ethan had hurt her enough to last a lifetime.

Chapter 68
Nevertheless, pushing all those thoughts back, Olivia dialed Ethan’s number. She would have time to think about that later
But right now, the meeting was about to start in the next five minutes, and he was not here. Something was wrong
(“The number you have called is currently not available, please leave a message at the beep.). The automated voice rang out
“Ethan, where are you, and what is going on? Please call me immediately you get this.” Olivia paused, hesitant to continue
“I am worried.”
She finally said in a small voice and ended the call.
