Chapter 71
Donald sat on the swivel chair in his office when a call came in. Putting down the phone after the call, he stood up, grabbing the jacket of his suit with a frown on his face
He pressed the call button on his table and his secretary rushed to it
“Yes sir, you called for me,” The young lady said, her head bowed
“I will be leaving the office right now. Ensure that by the time I am back, you have gathered all the De Volci files, everything on them. I do not care where you get them from, even if they do not exist, make them exist. Am I understood?” Donald asked and the secretary nodded in fright
As he walked past her; he entered the elevator, pressing the keys to take him to the garage.
Once the elevator landed, he got into his car
“Kennedy Memorial Hospital” He directed the chauffeur
“And make it quick, I do not have time for this. Time is money and I am losing money as I’m wasting time on this” The chauffeur nodded and sped off, within thirty minutes, they had reached the hospital
He walked to the reception, his face set in a frown
“I was told that my wife had been in an accident,” Donald said to the nurse at the reception without mincing words
“Yes, she is in room 303. We are sorry for the inconvenience, we had mistaken her for someone else when a man claimed she was his fiancée and came to
visit her” He pursed his lips in thought, questioning the nurse afterward,
“What was the man’s name?”
“Uhm, I can’t tell you that. It is against hospital policy to divulge personal information…” Before the nurse could complete her sentence, Donald’s hand slammed the counter and she instantly jumped in fright,
He leaned towards the counter, closer to her
“Is it not also against the hospital policy to do the nonsense you had done earlier? Divulging my wife’s information to a total stranger. I intend to use you for that mishap, it is unprofessional, and one thing I hate, apart from when a person is being stupid, is when they can’t carry out their jobs like they are supposed to. Show me the damn visitor log right now or I swear, you will never work as a nurse, ever again and I will rip you off everything you own, that of your family also” He whispered, with a sneer on his face
The nurse quickly opened the visitor log on her laptop and turned the screen to Donald
“Bryan Brooke, Interesting,” Donald murmured as he walked upstairs to where Shirley was

Why on earth would Bryan think that the person in the car would be his fianceé, Olivia” Hwmuttered to himself, storing that information for later use
Immediately he opened the door to the hospital room, and Shirley who had regained consciousness looked up and their eyes met
“Tsk” He scoffed,
“What is with you and making me waste my time? Why would you have to put yourself in a situation that would make me have to come out to you? You know how much I dislike my time being wasted on trivial things” He growled next, moving closer to the hospital bed
“I heard that due to the accident, Ethan was unable to attend the conference, but it was also cancelled. Was this a doing of yours, the accident?” He asked with an eyebrow up
Shirley nodded immediately, as much as the neck brace on her neck could allow her

She hoped that claiming the cause of the accident as her doing would put her in Donald’s good graces
“Isn’t that cute?” Donald said with a chuckle
“I want to take everything Ethan has, not ruin him before I can get my hands on the money. If he doesn’t win these big projects, Bryan will, and the
money will be gone. While admire your effort to go as far as putting yourself in this bed, I need Ethan to get more money, and then when the time t right, I will make it all mine. You are in luck, the conference eventually didn’t happen and you did not cause me any loss. If you had, am pretty sure you know this conversation would have been in a different tone.”
“I’am sorry” Shirley murmured, while he stroked her hair lovingly
“You do not need to be, at least not yet,” He said and began walking towards the door, once he was at the door, Shirley released the breath she had been holding but he stopped in his tracks just suddenly,
“Why did Bryan Brooke come to see you” He asked, turning
to
face Shirley
“Uhm, I don’t know. He hasn’t been here” Shirley said in confusion,
her
forehead knitted in worry
“Unless your acting skills have improved overnight or you do not know,” Donald said whilst studying her confused face
“Now, I believe it is your work to find out everything about Ethan and report back to me. Find out why Bryan would for some reason think that Olivia was the woman in the car with Ethan ”
“O.. okay” Shirley murmured
“And while it is admirable that you would want to remain in my good graces, also remember that I hate lies, I hate liars and most of all, I do not condone being betrayed. Bryan arrived at the hospital minutes after the two of you were brought in; it was as if he knew you would be brought in. The hospital had yet to call the relatives and yet he came. Don’t you find that weird?” Shirley stiffened on the bed
“It was as if he knew there was going to be an accident. But since you said you caused the accident, why don’t I believe you, uhn?” He continued with a creepy smile on his face making Shirley shiver with fear about what his next play of action would be
Just when he had stepped out of the door, bringing relief to Shirley, he popped his head back into the room
“Find out why Bryan Brooke is trying to kill Ethan or is it you?”
