Chapter 5
“She’s your daughter with Mr. Reid!–]]
“That’s impossible!“]]
Mom was practically screaming:
“How could she be Gabriel’s kid? When I was pregnant with her, I was sick as hell every single day–she’s been nothing but a nightmare since before she was even born! Look at her–stubborn and angry just like that psycho father of hers!“]]
Grandma’s prayer beads exploded, wooden beads flying everywhere and hitting the floor like gunshots.[]
That fortune teller was NEVER wrong! She’s cursed, brings death and destruction to everyone around her. No way in hell she’s Gabriel’s daughter!“[]
The doctor stepped forward, his face dead serious:[]
“Listen to me this surgery could kill both of them. Even with full siblings, bone marrow transplants can go wrong. And at her age, it could destroy her for life.
“You have exactly thirty seconds to decide: save the one healthy daughter you know you have, or gamble with both their lives?“[]
Im calling Mr. Reid RIGHT NOW for emergency DNA testing!“]
Mom was shaking, whispering: “This can’t be happening, this can’t be happening…”
The doctor was already dialing: “Mr. Reid needs to know about this immediately–“[]
CRACK! Grandma’s cane smashed his phone against the wall, pieces of plastic and glass exploding everywhere.[]
Her eyes were wild, desperate, terrifying:[]
“That baby is DYING! I will NOT let this family be destroyed!“]]
She jerked her head toward the door.]
Two huge bodyguards rushed in, grabbed the doctor, and dragged his struggling body out while he tried to scream through their hands.[]
Before anyone could blink, some sketchy “doctor” Grandma had obviously bought walked in like nothing happened.[]
That’s exactly when Gabriel burst through the doors.
He saw his wife trembling and his mother–in–law looking like she’d seen a ghost:
“Hey, hey–breathe. I brought the absolute best surgeons in the country. Our baby’s gonna make it.”
“And Aria? She’s tough. She’ll be fine.” His voice was rock–steady, like he controlled the whole damn world.
The surgery lights blazed on. Mom collapsed against Gabriel’s chest and looked up with terror in her eyes:
“Gabriel-what if something goes wrong? What if Aria doesn’t make it through this?“[]
Gabriel held her tight, his voice unshakeable:[]
}
“I’ve already handled everything. The William boy–yeah, he can’t speak, but he’s harmless. Aria marries him, she’ll be safe and provided for.“[]
Mom’s whole body sagged with relief.]]
But then Gabriel’s eyes locked onto Grandma’s bare wrist. His expression shifted.[]
“Mom. Where are your prayer beads?“]
Those beads hadn’t left her wrist in twenty years.]]
Grandma shoved her hands behind her back: “1–forgot them. We left in such a rush…”
Gabriel’s jaw clenched. Every instinct he had was screaming that something was very, very wrong.[]
Mom grabbed his arm, her voice too high, too fast: “Honey, we’ve got this handled here. You should really go home, you look exhausted–“[]
Grandma was nodding frantically: “Yes! Go rest! Jet lag’s terrible, come back tomorrow-“0

However, Gabriel’s car had barely rounded the corner when his face went stone cold.
“Turn around. Now.” His voice could have cut glass. “Back to the hospital. Step on it.“]
