Chapter 28
Howard tapped on the comments section and scanned through all the nasty messages. The company had its own department to handle issues on the internet, so he didn’t usually look at the comments. It was the first time he was seeing what the netizens had to say about what was going on.
His first reaction was that the announcement had undoubtedly been made by Megan, which meant that she hadn’t been hurt too badly when she fell down the stairs. His second reaction was that he was now even more convinced that she was just throwing a tantrum.
Instead of sending him a message directly, she used her account to remind him that they weren’t divorced yet. She knew without a doubt that he would find out if she did anything on this account.
“Mr. Larson, do you want to contact Mrs. Larson and make a public announcement with her?” Zander asked.
Howard placed the tablet on his desk. “No need.”
Zander grabbed the tablet and nodded. “What about Ms. Hardin?”
“I’ll handle her,” Howard replied, drumming his fingers lightly on the desk. He paused for a moment before continuing, “What has Blair been up to?”
Zander was stunned for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure and said in a low voice, “He went back to his hometown. He doesn’t dare return to Acreport after you ordered him to leave, Mr. Larson.

Zander glanced at Howard before continuing, “He won’t be able to live a comfortable life no matter where he goes, thanks to your orders, Mr. Larson.”
Howard hummed in acknowledgement.
Zander left the office with the tablet in hand, leaving Howard to gaze thoughtfully at the scenery beyond the massive floor–to–ceiling windows. Even though his office was located on the top floor of Larson
Headquarters, he felt like he could still feel the howling winds that were billowing outside.
The winds blowing through Acreport were still strong. It had swept through half the country, and yet it showed no signs of stopping. The city was still moving along at breakneck speeds, with everyone following their own path.
The skyscrapers were still bustling with people despite the relentless winds that persisted throughout the day. The flowers that had just bloomed were swept up by the wind, making the city look romantic yet
desolate as the petals danced through the air.
In the end, the wind finally died down.
Three days also passed in the blink of an eye.
Megan wasn’t fully recovered yet, but she was much better than before. The dizziness that was caused by

the light concussion she suffered had also gotten significantly better.

In the last three days, she had finalized the details of her first performance on “Celestial Voice” along with her costume and makeup.
Since she had suffered a miscarriage not too long ago, she wasn’t allowed to be exposed to the wind, cold water, or eat any spicy or cold food. She was also asked to wear long sleeves and pants despite the weather gradually getting warmer.
She spent the last three days in bed, though she did stop by the police station to give her statement. She gave them all the relevant information, hoping that they could solve the case as soon as possible.
It seemed that things were taking a turn for the better, much like the days were getting warmer after the
howling winds had died down. Megan was also confident that she would get better.
On the sixth day of the 30–day waiting period, which coincided with the first live broadcast of “Celestial
Voice“, Megan stood before the mirror after getting out of bed and freshening up.
Her costume, which had been urgently made, hung on the rack next to her. It was a vividly red dress that had layers upon layers of roses pinned to it. The design was unique and intricate, and the roses had been arranged in such a way that the dress looked like it was a dancing flame of rebirth.
Next to the dress was a mask. It matched the dress with the way roses were painted on the surface in a bold and exaggerated manner, giving off the impression that the wearer was beautiful but dangerous.
The dress and the mask were a stark contrast to Megan, who looked pale and skinny. She had lost 10 pounds in just a few days. She was already naturally slim, but at that moment, she looked as thin as a piece of paper.
She put on the dress and the rose tassel earrings that came with it. Finally, she grabbed the mask and put it on without hesitation. The mask was a perfect fit, completely hiding Megan’s face behind it. When she raised her head and looked at the mirror, she felt like she was looking at another person–Elena.
