Alyssa was immediately intrigued when she found out. Only a handful of people knew about the truth of Elena’s condition, and Alyssa had only managed to extract the information from one of the higher–ups by using Howard’s identity to pressure him.
The regular workers only knew that Elena had suffered such a terrible fall that she was bedridden for days.
Elena was the main singer of Jimmy’s company. He may only be the third son of the Ferrell family, but the Ferrells were a powerful and influential force. Jimmy was also the CEO of Ferrell Entertainment and was among the top three big bosses of Acreport’s entertainment industry.
Jimmy was still unmarried, and he had never announced having a girlfriend to the public. Alyssa guessed that he was so willing to personally tend to Elena’s needs because she was actually his kept woman.
Howard couldn’t deny that Alyssa’s analysis made sense. He wasn’t bothered about what Jimmy got up to, but he wasn’t sure why he was so oddly concerned with Elena after looking at her back. However, he was just concerned, nothing more.
Megan was finalizing the details of her performance with the relevant staff members in the dressing room that was located backstage. There were many people bustling back and forth backstage, so Jimmy had also left to handle some other business that he needed to attend to.
After all, he was the president of Ferrell Entertainment. He couldn’t stay by Megan’s side around the clock, so he had brought an assistant with him to take care of her in his stead.
Jessie White was a cute but capable woman who wore a pair of black–rimmed glasses. She was tasked with helping Megan, and she was currently scribbling away in her notebook while muttering under her breath.
“Stage, check. Number, check. Elena, they’ve arranged for you to be the third one to go up on stage.”
Megan nodded. She suddenly felt a pair of eyes lingering on her. She frowned as she looked in the direction she felt the gaze coming from and realized that Alyssa was the one looking at her.
Alyssa smiled and nodded at her when they made eye contact. Megan only shot a strange look at her and didn’t respond.
“Elena, Mr. Ferrell told me to tell you that Alyssa has a mysterious but powerful group supporting her from behind the scenes that doesn’t belong to Larson Group. Every appearance and speech she makes is personally orchestrated by that group.
“It’s better to avoid making direct contact with Alyssa if you can help it.”
Megan averted her gaze and nodded in understanding. If she was forced to interact with Alyssa, she had to make their interaction as brief as possible before going on her way.

Meanwhile, Alyssa also averted her gaze. The smile on her face melted away when she turned around. She couldn’t believe how arrogant Elena was when she was nothing more than a kept woman. Her eyes flashed as an idea crossed her mind. Perhaps Elena could be a useful tool.
The live broadcast was officially underway. The program started with the three guests introducing themselves before performing. The two other guests were famous figures in the entertainment industry. They had their own unique ways of introducing themselves and delivered flawless performances.
The last guest to perform was Alyssa. From the moment she stepped onto the stage, it was obvious that her performance was going to be different from the other two.
All the spotlights were aimed at her. She was wearing a white dress, making her look even more fragile and beautiful under the rays of the stage lights.
“Hello, everyone. My name is Alyssa Hardin. I’m a floral designer, and I’m very happy to be able to stand on this stage to meet everyone. Perhaps you’re curious as to why I’m participating in this show when I’m a floral designer. Many have accused me of just wanting to gain more popularity.
“I want to tell everyone that it’s true! I do want to become more popular!” Alyssa declared with a smile, giving off the impression that she was brave and honest. She looked into the camera before continuing, “I want more and more people to look at me. I want them to see me trying out different things.
“I want more people to know that, even though I’m reaching the end of my life, I can still live an exciting and fulfilling life.”
She was wearing a beautiful but broken smile. Coupled with her words, it made for a touching scene that made many viewers cry.
