Chapter 34
Alyssa only smiled and didn’t say a word. However, the camera switched to Howard once again, making the answer obvious. She chatted with the host for a few more minutes before she left the stage.
It was the contestants‘ turn to perform. When the first contestant was almost done with his performance, Megan was asked to move to the waiting area.
When she left backstage and was walking through the staff walkway, she bumped into Alyssa, who was returning backstage after speaking to Howard in the audience. They were about to brush past each other when Alyssa called out, “Elena.”
Megan halted her footsteps and looked at Alyssa.
“How was my performance?” Alyssa asked with a smile. “Did I sound good?”
Megan smiled lightly. “It was a good song.”
The smile on Alyssa’s face deepened. “I had a feeling that that song would make you acknowledge my
capabilities.”
Megan smiled again and didn’t say a word.
“Do you want to join me later when we’re splitting off into groups?” Alyssa asked.
Today was the first live broadcast of “Celestial Voice“, which included introductory performances from the guests and contestants, followed by the formation of three different teams. There were three judges, and each of them would lead a team of four. The selection process was scheduled to take place later.
“Why are you asking me this when I haven’t even performed yet?” Megan asked, her words laced with hints of mocking. “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll drag you down if I’m a terrible singer?”
“I have a feeling that you’ll choose me because we have a common enemy,” Alyssa said with a smile.
She took a step toward Megan, closing the distance between them. She then leaned closer to Megan and whispered in her ear, “Elena, do you know why you’ll never be able to become Jimmy’s official girlfriend?”
Megan arched an eyebrow at her. She had no idea what Alyssa was talking about. Why did Alyssa think
that she wanted to be Jimmy’s girlfriend?
Pleased by Megan’s reaction despite how her face was hidden behind her mask, Alyssa continued, ”
Because someone is blocking your path forward.”
“Who is it?”
“Megan Stafford,” Alyssa answered, her smile growing wider. “She’s the one who’s blocking your path.”
Megan was rendered speechless by Alyssa’s response, shooting a mystified look in her direction.
Alyssa pulled back and straightened up before saying, “It doesn’t matter that you don’t believe me. You’ll

find out in the future that I’m telling you nothing but the truth.”
Her eyes strayed to Megan’s stomach before she said, “It must feel horrible to lose a child.”
She didn’t say anymore after that, walking past Megan and continuing on her way.

At the other end of the walkway, a staff member was already gesturing for Megan to pick up the pace. She didn’t linger and rushed over.
Alyssa had only taken a few steps before she turned her head, looking at Megan’s retreating back with a pleased expression. Everything that she had just done had been completely intentional. She had purposefully chosen to tell Elena about Megan right before she was scheduled to go on stage.
Her first objective was to mess with Elena’s emotions, wanting to stop Elena from performing at her best.
She didn’t know how good Elena was since she had been absent during the rehearsal. On top of that, she
didn’t get anyone to remind Elena of the unspoken rules, so she might not be aware of them.
Alyssa was supposed to be the star of today’s show. She was determined to be the best among all the
performers.
Her second objective was to plant a seed of hatred toward Megan in Elena’s heart. After all, she had failed to become Jimmy’s official girlfriend even after suffering a miscarriage. There was no way that
Elena didn’t loathe the person who was standing in her way.
Since Elena was destined to hate someone, then Alyssa was going to direct her hate toward Megan. She was going to turn Elena into her metaphorical gun that she was going to use to open fire on Megan.
Alyssa couldn’t help but feel that she had concocted a flawless plan. Feeling pleased with herself, she looked away from Megan and continued on her way toward backstage.
When Megan made it to the end of the walkward, she paused before turning her head back to look at Alyssa’s retreating back. However, she didn’t say a word.
Meanwhile, in a small room, two people were listening to a recording device that had the label “Staff Channel” taped on it. They looked at each other with wide eyes.
“Should we report this?” one of them asked.
