Chapter 45
Chapter 46
Megan had said that calling Howard “Howie” made her feel closer to him, because her father, William, always called her mother, Olivia, with a nickname.
The woman before Howard was much skinnier than Megan was. In addition, she was Jimmy’s sugar baby. Just ten days ago, she miscarried his child.
Six days ago, Howard had gone to the courthouse with Megan. They’d slept together the night before.
There was no way this woman was Megan.
Jimmy had noticed that something was off, so he began striding over to them.
“Did Jimmy really let you join the show with these severe injuries?” asked Howard, for some reason
unbeknown to even himself.
“This isn’t something you should concern yourself with, Mr. Larson,” replied Megan.
Howard frowned deeply. He wanted to say more, but Jimmy had arrived.
Megan’s vision swam. She could no longer hold herself upright and slumped onto Jimmy.
“Me–Elena!” Jimmy freaked out. He immediately reached out to hold her properly before shooting Howard a glare.
Jimmy opened his mouth to speak, but Megan waved him off.
Howard pursed his lips tightly. He observed their casual intimacy. Then, he asked, “She’s gravely injured. Why are you still allowing her to work?”
Jimmy rolled his eyes. Weren’t her injuries all Howard’s doing?
He had heard what Selena said when he visited Megan at the hospital.
Initially, Megan had only suffered a slight concussion from the collision. If she had immediately laid down afterward, she might’ve been able to keep the child.
It was Howard who’d pushed her down the stairs to protect Alyssa.
In the end, Megan lost her child and gained multiple bruises all over her body. She was lucky enough not to have broken any bones!
They would’ve gotten into the car if Howard hadn’t insisted on speaking to Megan. How could he have the audacity to say all that?
Jimmy really wanted to give Howard a good scolding. He’d show Howard who was the worst–tempered man in Acreport!
However, at Megan’s visible discomfort, Jimmy just snorted. “It’s none of your business!”

Then, he picked Megan up and strode toward the car.
Howard frowned as he watched them leave. Megan’s hair was splayed over Jimmy’s arm. It incited an unexplainable bout of jealousy in Howard.
The wind continued to pick up, and leaves spiraled in the air. One of them fell in the center of Howard’s
palm.
He stared at the leaf. Were appearances really deceiving?
Before he could piece things out, it began drizzling. Water droplets splattered onto the leaf in hand, like tears dripping down someone’s face.
They drove for a while before switching cars and heading toward the hospital.
Megan had come to and was feeling a little better. She looked out of the window.
Jimmy was still grumbling about Howard, but she no longer wanted to think about him.
Howard’s status in Acreport was incomparable. Even if she teamed up with Jimmy, they still posed no threat to him. Why should she bother?
All Megan had to do was seize control over the things she could and do what she wanted to. That was
enough.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated with a text from Howard.
It was raining cats and dogs.
After leaving the recording studio where they filmed “Celestial Voice“, everyone departed using various methods of transportation.
The audience members hadn’t been permitted to bring their devices to ensure a good experience for those watching the live stream.
They only went back on their phones after leaving the studio.
All the hottest trends were about “Celestial Voice“, so the audience members browsed through the available posts. While everyone was gossiping about the show, a few questioned why “Yesterday Revisited” seemed lackluster through the screen in contrast to how astounding it’d sounded live.
