Chapter 50
Back in the car, Alyssa was taken aback by Howard’s question.
“I don’t get it,” said Alyssa, frowning.
Howard stared at her silently and insistently. She found it hard to meet his eyes.
Alyssa looked down, giving herself some time to think.
“I don’t know what you’re implying, but I have spoken to her before,” she explained while looking back up, putting on a pitiful, fragile expression.
“I found out she’d just miscarried a baby, and there were still scars all over her. Worried, I sought her out and asked her whether there was anything I could help her with.”
Alyssa eyed Howard unsurely, looking rather nervous. “Did she misunderstand my intentions?”
Seeming as though she was digging through her memories, Alyssa said, “I mentioned her wounds, as well as her miscarriage… Howard, would she think that I leaked the secret of her miscarriage?
“That wasn’t what I meant. Gosh…”
Cupping her face in her hands, Alyssa seemed to be beating herself up over it. “I’ve only mentioned it to you, Howard. I told no one else.”
Howard continued observing her, studying her expressions.
Her explanation was flawless, and Alyssa did seem to feel bad about it. She pulled out her phone immediately to text Elena and explain herself.
Perhaps it was indeed a misunderstanding. With that thought, Howard said, “It’s fine. I was just asking.”
On one side was Alyssa, the woman he felt remorseful toward, while on the other side was Jimmy’s girlfriend. Howard could tell what truly mattered, and so there was no need to ask further questions.
The car sped through the city, where the air hung damp after the rain. After a while, Alyssa asked softly,” Howard, do you think I sing well?”
She did, but not as well as Elena did.
However, Howard didn’t say that. He just hummed.
At his response, Alyssa nodded, satisfied.
Then, her eyes teared up as she frowned. “I’ll die a happy woman after hearing what you just said.”
Howard furrowed his eyebrows. In the end, he sighed deeply.
“Don’t say that. You’re great, Alyssa.”

She reached out and clasped his hand in hers. She said nothing and only smiled.
Not before long, they arrived at Alyssa’s Floral Studio. After sending her back, Howard got back into the
car.
“Mr. Larson, where are we going now?” asked Zander.
Howard watched Alyssa flit around busily in the studio, a crease between his brows.
After giving it some thought, he said, “Ask them to bring Blair Lowell over.”
Zander nodded and immediately got to texting.
The car headed toward Larson Group.
Suddenly, Zander exclaimed, “Bad news, Mr. Larson. Blair’s gone!”
Howard scowled. “When did this happen?”
*Terror was written all over Zander’s face as he replied, “They just reported it just now, but Blair has been missing for a month. The underlings kept quiet about it. We only found out when we asked to see him, and they couldn’t send him to us!
“Blair definitely harbors a deep hatred toward us after what happened. He won’t have a good time back in his hometown either. If…”
