Chapter 7
After their manicures were done, Megan and Selena went to a spa.
Megan then stepped into a hair salon once she saw Selena off.
The hairstylist looked at her waist–length hair with regret.
“Are you sure you want to cut it? It’s not easy to grow it this long.”
Her thick, long, and smooth hair was beautiful. It was clearly cared for with meticulous effort.
Megan gazed at her reflection in the mirror.
She had gorgeous skin and hair, and she was wearing a soft yellow dress. Even though her face was untouched by makeup, she was still stunningly
beautiful.
Megan looked like a blooming lily that was pure, beautiful, and harmless. She smiled faintly.
“Yes, cut it.”
Her waist–length hair was what Howard liked. It wasn’t what she liked.
The hairstylist gave a soft “Alright then” and raised the scissors.
With each snip, strands of hair fell to the floor, like the chains that had bound her all these years.
After a long while, Megan looked at her new self in the mirror and allowed herself a small smile.
“This style definitely suits you better! It looks great!” the hairstylist exclaimed in admiration. “If we dye it or do a perm, it’ll look even better. How about we do it now? Here, take a look at my recommendations…”
Megan glanced at the brochures, then touched her belly.
“Maybe next time. It’s already late now,” Megan answered.
The hairstylist sighed with disappointment.
Smiling, Megan added, “I’ll come back to you for it in the future.”
This hairstylist really was quite skilled.
“That’s a promise then!”
The hairstylist brightened, grabbed a little appointment book, and asked, “When do you think you’ll be back for it?”
Megan glanced down at her belly.

“A week from now,” she said softly. “It should be fine by then. At most, I can only do it after 20 days.”

She would still need time to recover after the abortion, after all.
“Alright then, you have to come, okay?” the hairstylist said with an expectant look in her eyes as Megan left.
Smiling, Megan gave a nod
With her new haircut, she headed to a high–end shopping mall in the city center.
Luxury brands lined the floors.
She looked at her dainty outfit and let out a soft, mocking laugh.
Howard preferred a sweet, demure look as it symbolized submission to him.
But Megan never liked this style.
After going around a few stores, she emerged with several shopping bags in hand.
She hailed a cab and went home. Carrying the bags into her new place, she looked around.
Megan faced her new home, her new surroundings, and her new life of solitude with a neutral expression.
She changed out of her dainty and sweet–looking dress before putting on her Valentino suit with sharp, modern lines.
She then set aside her canvas bag and picked up a Chanel chain purse.
Then, kicking off her wedges, she slipped into her pointed–toe heels.
Staring at herself in the mirror, Megan slightly parted her lips. “Here’s to your new life, Megan.”
The woman in the mirror was not smiling
She tried curving her lips, but the expression felt so hollow she couldn’t even fool herself.
It had been seven years. To say it didn’t hurt would be a lie.
If she didn’t feel like smiling, then she wasn’t going to force it.
Chapter 7
Megan let out a long sigh, then turned to prepare for tomorrow.
Since she had decided to start over, she would do it properly.
She needed to go to the hospital tomorrow. Then, she had to talk to Jimmy Ferrell about the show.

Before long, it was the next day.
Megan drove to the hospital. She already had an appointment with a doctor there.
But before she entered the parking lot, Jimmy called.
Jimmy was the head of the largest entertainment company in Acreport, Ferrell Entertainment, which was backed by the powerful Ferrell Group that could even rival Larson Group.
Jimmy was the third son of the Ferrells, currently in charge of the entertainment division.
Megan’s earlier songs had been released under Ferrell Entertainment.
After her marriage, Howard had asked her to take care of Ronald. Since she knew Ronald’s days were numbered, she stopped appearing in public.
Nevertheless, Jimmy, who valued her talent, suggested she keep writing songs under the pseudonym “Quinn“.
Even if she sold them, her reputation in the industry would still be somewhat maintained, and it would be easier for her when she returned to the industry in the future.
Because of Howard, Megan had signed a confidentiality agreement with Ferrell Entertainment, personally handled by Jimmy.
Only the two of them knew that Megan was Quinn.
At the time, Megan gave it no thought as she was busy basking in the joy of her marriage to Howard. She never expected she would actually need to come back one day.
As she pulled over and answered the call, Megan spoke with puzzlement. “Mr. Ferrell?”
Their meeting should be in the afternoon.
“Quinn, could you come to the office now?” Jimmy sounded a little hesitant.
Megan immediately sensed something was wrong because he had called her Quinn.
He never used that name in private before.
“Is something the matter?” Megan asked.
She had a doctor’s appointment. If it wasn’t urgent, she didn’t want to reschedule.
“Someone wants to buy the right to use your latest song,” Jimmy said, his tone still uneasy. “I’d like you to make the trip here.”

Megan furrowed her brows slightly, finding all of this even more strange.
“You can just handle it for me.”
She had always let Ferrell Entertainment manage her songs. For Jimmy, the head of the company, to personally call her over such a matter was unusual.
“The buyer is a little… unique,” Jimmy explained.
In the end, Jimmy seemed to steel himself before saying, “Alyssa Hardin wants to buy your song.”
What? Megan was stunned. Wasn’t Alyssa a floral designer?
Why would she want to buy a song?
Before Megan could ask more questions, Jimmy continued, “It’s a bit complicated. I refused her at first, but she came here in person. And she didn’t come alone…”
He hesitated before adding, “Howard Larson is with her. They’re determined to have it.”
