Chapter 11
“Tell you what?” I asked calmly.
“Tell you that my father never thought much of you from the very beginning? That he considered you all talk and no action, unworthy of me?”
“Or should I have told you that I was a fool who made a seven–year bet with him?
“That I hid my identity, wagering that you would love the real me and not my background?”
A bitter smile curved my lips, tears welling in my eyes.
“Tomorrow was supposed to be the day that bet ended.”
I came to Los Angeles to tell you everything, to give you a surprise,
“Well isn’t the ending perfect?”
‘Now the surprise is gone, and so is the intended mate bond.”
turned to my father, eyes red–rimmed. “Dad, I was wrong.”
“In the end, I still lost.”
My Lather gently patted my back, about to speak, when a loud thud came from behind.
Dominic collapsed to his knees, clutching my leg and sobbing,
Andrey! I was wrong I was so wrong!”
“I didn’t know, I always thought you were no different from the ordinary, and lost my mind…‘
“I’m scum! I’m a beast!”
“Please, give me another chance.”
“I love you, Audrey. I love you all.”
“Please, don’t break up with me. Let’s have the bonding ceremony right now!”
“Think about our seven years together, Audrey!”
Around us, my colleagues stood frozen, stunned speechless. No one had ever seen the heir of the Vexmoor family so desperate, so pathetically bumbled.
I looked down at him, at the face that once made my heart race for seven years and now orily filled me with disgust
Softly, I asked, “When you were with Bella, did you think about our seven years?”
“What meaning does begging have now?”
“Isn’t i
Bella
a your future miate?”
A look of sudden realization dawned on him.
He spun around, shoving Bella aside with a violent kick
“Fuck oft, bitch! It’s you seducing me! It’s all your fault!”
“If it weren’t for you, Audrey wouldn’t be leaving me!”
Bella collapsed to the floor, moaning in pain, too stunned to move.
Dominic didn’t spare her a glance. His eyes were only on me.

“Audrey, I was wrong. She means nothing to me. I love you…”
I ignored him, slowly pulling a few jade shards from my pocket.
A shattered moon in fragments.
“Look at this, my mother’s keepsake, called Papillon. Today your precious future mate Bella stomped it into dust before my eyes.”
“Dominic, some things, once broken, are broken forever.”
“They can never be pieced back together again.”
Realization hit him like a blade. His pupils shrank.
“I’ll replace it! I’ll buy you a new one! A hundred of them!”
He shouted wildly, then spat in Bella’s direction.
“It’s all that idiot’s fault! Let me send her to hell to avenge you!”
He spun back and kicked Bella again, desperate to prove himself. “Enough”
