“Embarrassed?” Dominic snorted.
“What would I be embarrassed about? Did I break any law?”
He looked disdainful. “Audrey, now your place. Don’t make a fuss,”
“With me you can have infinite glory. Betray me and I will make you lose everything.”
I raised an eyebrow, curious what means he might claim. And true to form, he did not disappoint.
He gave me a contemptuous glance.
“Fine, you can remain my future mate in New York, while Bella will be my future mate in Los Angeles.”
“East and West, non interference. You two are equal”
“From now on, you may not come to Los Angeles, and you must not bully Bella.”
Even the gossiping colleagues gasped and whispered wildly at this.
What kind of modern hareer nonsense was this?

I looked him in the eye. “What if I refuse?”
Dominic’s gaze turned ice cold. “Then we will dissolve the mate bond. And you? Get out of New York.”

I smiled faintly. “Dissolve the bond? Fine.”

Bella’s face darkened, her tone sharp and bitter. “You–you reckless wretch!”

“Now, apologize properly and accept Bella, and I’ll pretend I never heard your previous words.”
Looking at his smug face, I suddenly found it amusing
“Dominic, have you considered that you are the one who benefits, and the brainless one is you.”
“So the one being dumped should be you.”
Under the expectant gazes, I pulled a spare phone from my bag. In front of everyone I dialed a number and put it on speaker.
The phone rang once, and someone answered immediately. A warm chuckle came through.
Audrey! How do you have time to call me?”
“Aren’t you in Los Angeles with Dominic for Valentine’s Day?”
“Did you see that brat? If he dares to bully you, tell me!”
It was the voice of Roderick Vexmoor, the current Alpha of Darkhawl Pack.
Roderick was upright, despite his son who had been spoiling himself.
I didn’t bother with circumlocution and interrupted him directly,
“Alpha, I’m sorry.”

“Let’s cancel the intended mate bond between our two families.”
The voice on the other end instantly panicked,
“What? Audrey! Calm down!”
“Was it that bastard upsetting you again?”
“Just watch me tear him apart! Easy, Audrey. This mate bond must not be broken. Our two families…”
I had no patience for his tamblings and hung up.
