Chapter 9
Dominic’s face turned ashen. He clearly hadn’t expected me to have the guts to call his father right in front of everyone and dissolve our bond.
Just as his fury was about to erupt, his phone rang
The moment he saw the caller ID, panic spread across his features.
He scuttled into a corner, voice lowered, but his frantic explanations carried through the hushed hall.
“Dad! Let me explain!”
“It’s not what you think. Audrey, she…”
Whatever was said on the other end drained the blood from his face. It went from pale, to chalk white, and finally to a livid shade of purple. His hand holding the phone trembled.
He hung up abruptly and swung all his rage back onto me.
“Audrey, you really think you’re something, don’t you?”
“Considering your contributions to Darkhawl Pack Corp, I was willing to show some mercy, let you keep a shred of dignity.”
“But you just had to go crying to my dad?”
He jabbed a shaking finger at me, so angry he could barely speak.
“Since you’re so ungrateful, don’t blame me for what happens next.”
His eyes gleamed with malice as he jerked his chin toward the warriors a
at the doors.
“Show her who really runs Darkhawl Pack Corp.”
“Throw her out!”
The black–clad warriors moved instantly, circling me like wolves scenting blood
My colleagues scrambled back, afraid of being caught in the storm, but their eyes shone with giddy anticipation.
Bella smirked in triumph
Just as one of the guards reached for my shoulder, a deafening roar split the air.
“What’s happening? Anearthquake?
“No–that sound… it’s a helicopter!”
“My goddess, why would a helicopter be here?”
“Who could it be?”
Drawn like moths to flame, everyone rushed to the windows.
A matte–black helicopter hovered over the plaza, the violent downwash of its blades making the trees below thrash wildly.
Before their stunned eyes, the cabin door swung open
A composed middle–aged werewolf descended a rope ladder.
Dominic froze. He had never seen this figure before, but instinct screamed this was someone powerful, and dangerous.
Forcing down his fury, he hurried forward with a sycophantic smile.
Hello, sir, may I ask who-”

“Audrey you’ve suffered.”
Tears blurred my vision as I fell into his arms. “Dad.”
