Chapter 13
“Goodnight, Sara,” I said coldly.
She scoffed but said nothing, slipping out of the room just as Harry appeared. She brushed past him, her disdain clear in the way she rolled her eyes at him. Harry glanced back at her before stepping in and shutting the door.
“Did you find her?’ I asked quickly, eager to know about my mate.
Harry nodded and pulled out a small photograph from his jacket. “Yes. I saw her profile among the shortlisted applicants for the assistant position.” He handed me the photo, and I couldn’t help but smile. My mate.
“So, she’s seeking a job at the company?” I murmured, turning the photo in my hand. “Aeson certainly interviewed her, and yet he didn’t tell me when I asked about her.”
Harry hesitated. “I’m sure Alpha Aeson didn’t recognize her, given whatever descriptions you provided. He interviewed several women.”
I nodded, accepting his reasoning. It was a logical excuse, though it still irked me.
“So, where’s my darling mate from?” I asked, my tone light despite my growing curiosity. “She can’t be human.”
Harry shook his head. “No, she’s not. She’s from Misty Violet Pack.”
1 froze. My gaze snapped to his. “What?”
“She’s from that pack,” he confirmed, his tone careful.
My face twisted as I processed his words. Misty Violet Pack. That meant she was under the control of Alpha Pedro, a man whose reputation for dishonesty and cruelty was infamous. My mate in that pack? It wasn’t safe. She needed to leave immediately.
“Do you want me to do something?” Harry asked cautiously.
“Yes, Harry,” I said firmly. “First, give her the job.”
Harry hesitated again. “About that…I just got to know Alpha Aeson already employed her.”
I blinked in surprise. “What?” That was unexpected. But it was good news.
Harry left soon after, and I found myself lost in thought. Tomorrow, I’d finally meet her again. My mate. The anticipation was electric, almost unbearable. My thoughts wandered to the things I’d say, how I’d act. I could be so close to her now, do whatever I wanted-
“Don’t treat her like your other bitches,” Kai snarled in my head, interrupting my fantasy. “She’s our mate. She’s special and delicate.”
I nodded, conceding. “You’re right, Kai. I’ll make her feel safe with me. I won’t devour her…yet.”
Kai growled, and I chuckled.
The following morning, I arrived at the company earlier than ever before. I couldn’t contain my excitement. As I walked toward Aeson’s office, raised voices echoed down the hallway.
“You shouldn’t have employed someone without us three doing a general review of the person,” Hades snapped, his brows furrowed in irritation.
“She’s the best applicant,” Aeson argued, his tone sharp.
“But she’s got no qualifications or experience!” Hades fired back.

“Hey, chill,” I interrupted, stepping into the office. Their heads snapped toward me, their expressions shifting to surprise.
Aeson and Hades often clashed, their personalities too different to ever fully align. Most of the time, I let them argue without interference. But not today- not when they were arguing about her. My mate.
“Why are you here so early?” Aeson asked, raising an eyebrow as I stepped between them, forcing them to back off.
“I wanted to,” I replied smoothly. “I owe this company too. And…” I paused, locking eyes with Hades, “about the woman you’re discussing-I don’t mind her being our new assistant.”
Hades narrowed his eyes. “You’re talking like you know her.”
I ignored him. “Well, I’ll be working fully now.”
They exchanged looks, clearly skeptical.
“Really?” Aeson chuckled.
“Yes.”
“And why the sudden dedication?” Hades asked suspiciously.
I smiled, thinking of her. “Because, other than my money, I have a reason now.”
“What reason?” Hades pressed.
Before I could answer, a knock sounded at the door. All three of us turned as the door opened.
And there she was.
My eyes trailed from her legs up to her face, drinking her in. She looked radiant, even in something as simple as workwear. Her presence lit up the room. My smile widened, unbidden.
“Mate,” I whispered.
