Chapter 6

Serena POV

Everly leaned back, processing my words. “Okay, you might have seriously messed up, but tell me one thing… how hot were they? The Alphas?”

I gave her a flat look. “Are you serious?”

“Absolutely.” She nudged me, grabbing her phone and typing furiously. “Let me show you something. You need to know who you’re dealing with.”

She turned the screen toward me, revealing a photo of a man with wavy dark hair, sharp features, and an effortless smirk.

“That’s Alpha Caiden,” she explained. “The new Alpha of Nightshade Pack. He’s infamous for being a playboy. The charm he has? Unreal.”

My breath hitched. “I met him in the elevator.”

Everly’s eyes lit up. “No way! Did he flirt with you?”

“No,” I mumbled, recalling his intense gaze. “But he definitely noticed me.”

“Lucky you,” she teased, scrolling to another photo. “This is Alpha Aeson of Dead Moon Pack.”

I pointed at the screen. “He’s the one who interviewed me.”

Everly sighed dreamily. “He’s so polished. Like, everything about him screams perfection.”

I arched an eyebrow. “You’re acting weird.”

She shrugged. “I used to have a crush on him. But he’s betrothed, so… there goes that dream.”

“He has a mate?”

“Chosen mate. An Alpha’s daughter from another city.” Everly unwrapped a stick of gum, popping it into her mouth. “If he weren’t already taken, I’d throw myself at him.”

“Right,” I said, rolling my eyes.

“Now,” she continued, scrolling further. “The last one. Brace yourself.” She held up the phone, and I froze. The icy blue eyes, the chiseled jawline-I recognized him instantly. “That’s Alpha Hades of Fang Storm Pack.”

“He’s the one I ran into,” I whispered, my throat suddenly dry.

Everly made a sound somewhere between awe and fear. “He’s the most dominant of the three. People fear him for good reason. They say his name alone sends shivers down spines.”

I swallowed hard, memories of his intense stare flashing in my mind. “He was… terrifying.”

She nodded. “He’s dangerous, Serena. If you lied to Aeson, and Hades finds out…” Her voice trailed off, leaving the unspoken threat hanging in the air.

I couldn’t believe it. In one day, I’d crossed paths with three of the most powerful Alphas in existence. What had I gotten myself into?

I tried not to panic, but my nerves were fraying. The thought of being tracked by Alpha Aeson’s man or even worse-facing the three Alphas again-kept replaying in my head. Everly, of course, noticed my jittery state immediately. She had a knack for reading me like an open book.

*Serena,” she said, smirking as she leaned back against the headboard. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost. Chill, okay? No one’s coming after you. You probably imagined it.”

“I didn’t imagine anything.” I snapped, pacing back and forth. “He was in the elevator with me, and he came out right when I was leaving. What if he watching me?”

“Or maybe he just had to get off on the same floor as you,” Everly replied with a shrug, her calmness both irritating and oddly reassuring. “You’re making

this bigger than it is.”

I stopped paring, crossing my arms. “Everly, you don’t get it. I lied to an Alpha. What if they already know? What if they’re planning something?”

She arched a brow and smirked mischievously. “Oh, I get it all right. But can we focus on the important part? You saw them in person. Like, actual flesh and blood. Three Alphas. Were they as hot as they look in pictures?”

“Everly,” I groaned, rubbing my temples. “This isn’t about how hot they are.”

“Oh, but it kind of is.” She tilted her head, her grin growing. “Tell me-did you feel aroused when you saw Alpha Hades? Be honest.”

I stopped dead in my tracks, my face burning, “What? No! I mean-why would you even ask that?”

Everly cackled, clearly enjoying herself. “Come on, Serena! The man practically radiates sex appeal. You can’t tell me you didn’t feel even the tiniest bit…. you know, tingly?”

“I don’t feel tingly!” I shot back, trying to sound convincing. But even as I said it, I couldn’t explain the strange sensation I’d felt in his presence-or with any of them, for that matter. Especially Hades. His cold, penetrating gaze had left a mark I couldn’t quite shake.

Everly rolled her eyes, leaning forward. “Fine, deny it all you want. But let’s be real here. You’re surrounded by three ridiculously attractive men, and if you get this job…” She paused for dramatic effect. “Serena, do you realize home hucky you’ll be? You’ll get to see them five days a week. Five. Whole. Days.”

I gave her a warning glare. “Everly-
