Chapter 226
Seeing Emily’s sullen face, Lily brought up another thing “Do you know why Yvonne fustes you? Even though she knows the Zwick family isn’t as strong
the Bennett family, and her dad told her to be fendly with you, she still hates you”
This question had never crossed Emily’s mind before because she was too proud to pay

rattention to Yvonne.
Lily didn’t expect an answer. She just had too much bitterness inside and needed to get it out. She went on. “Yonne hates you because you’re the most popular girl in Cloudridge, the pampered Bennett holress”
Emily had never thought about it before.
She thought, ‘Does Yvonne have some psychological issues? If she hated me just for that reason from the very first meeting, why is she so close to Lydia now?
“After all, Lydia has become the most popular girl in Cloudridge, and the Bennett family dotes on her even more than they have on me.
Emily suddenly remembered something Xavier said after she told him everything. He told her that Lydia was like someone who could cast a spell on people

A creepy feeling crept into Emily’s mind, but it came and went quickly, like just a trick her brain was playing. By the time Emily snapped back to reality, Lily had already called her name several times. “What’s on your mind?” she asked.
Emily looked at her, stayed quiet for a moment, then sat back down. “You wanna get back at Yvonne, right? So do I. Why not work together?”
Since she couldn’t fulfill her promise to Zack, she had to help avenge Quiana.
Emily and Lily spent over two hours in the cafe. No one knew what they talked about. And no one but Austin knew that Emily had returned to Cloudridge the very same day she left.
A couple of days later, Emily went with Austin to a cemetery far from the center of Cloudridge. She wanted to come alone, but Austin insisted on accompanying her, and she couldn’t refuse.
Following the clues Lily provided, she found the grave where Quiana and her grandma rested. It was a plot her grandma bought with all her savings
After she buried Quiana, the old lady got into a car accident on the way home from the cemetery. The driver fled and hadn’t been caught yet.
The charity people felt sorry for the old lady, who had no one to claim her, so they bought her a grave next to Quiana’s.
The neglected grave had been overtaken by weeds. Emily and Austin worked silently, clearing the overgrowth until the plot was neat. Only then did Emily say, “Do you think it was just an accident?”
Austin knew she was talking to him, so he said, “I don’t buy all these coincidences for a second.”
Emily pursed her li

That was why she decided to find out the whole truth and get revenge for Quiana, her grandma, and Zack,
Austin noticed the determination in her eyes. He knew Emily had left Cloudridge a few days ago for a reason, but the details were unclear. Af moment, he asked, “Have you found anything?”
Emily kept her gaze fixed on the grave and nodded softly. “Quiana’s case involves the Windrose family from Xalativa.”
The Windrose family was no weaker than the Bennett family, even seeming to overshadow them. Even the Bennett family could push her around, let
alone the former.
Emily understood that playing dumb was her only chance to survive.

She also know that back at St. Gabriel Reform Academy, if everyone had played dumb like that, she would have ended up in maybe trapped in darkness for life.
Austin felt a wave of gloom in her eyes and frowned a little, thinking, ‘Does Emily have some beel with the Windrose family?”
Just as he was thinking about it, Emily suddenly called out to him. “Auz, can you done a favor?”
“Auz” was a name Austin really wanted her to use after meeting Lucas for the first time. Back then, Emily felt it was too intimate since they weren’t that
close
Austin was like a jealous child, throwing tantrums and cooking all kinds of tasty food every day until Emily finally gave in.
From the first day they met, Emily knew Austin was childish and unpredictable. She thought his insistence on the nickname was just his way of subking after being scolded by Lucas.
However, the first time she called him by that, Austin looked at her seriously and said, “Emily, I’ll never treat you like Lucas does. I promise.”
Emily had to admit that she felt touched at that moment. Over time, she
the grew used to th
the name.
Austin loved it when she called him that, but he was even more surprised that Emily had taken the initiative to ask for his help.
It was the first time she had asked him for help. Without hesitation, Austin nodded. “Tell me what you need. I’ll do whatever I can
Emily didn’t hold back. “I need you to get me into a benefit dinner happening in two weeks. It’s hosted by the Windrose family, held right here in Cloudridge.”
Such events required invitations, and regular folks didn’t get one easily, but she was sure Austin could get one.
She didn’t know much about Austin’s background yet, but he never kept anything secret from her when they were at the apartment.
Emily sensed something, and she was sure Austin had a way to get an invitation to the benefit dinner, though she wasn’t sure how hard it would be for
him
Austin was totally caught off guard. He never expected her first time asking for help would be for something so simple.
Seeing him go quiet, Emily assumed it was a difficult favor and said, “it’s okay, if it’s a bit too much, go ask-
“Not at all.” Austin came back to his senses. “I just didn’t expect the first time you’d ask me for help to be over something so trivial”
He leaned in slightly, meeting Emily’s eyes. “Don’t hesitate to ask me for help. I don’t want you to hold back around me.” His gaze was earnest and
sincere.
Emily realized that Austin was always honest and sincere, which made her feel at ease. She looked at him quietly for a bit, then nodded, “Yeah, I do need favor,”
