Chapter 236

There was both witness testimony and physical evidence. Faced with such irrefutable evidence, Yvonne crumpled to the

floor.

‘I made sure to get rid of every last piece of evidence, even burned that stupid diary. So, how on earth is there still anything left?’ she thought.

Yvonne saw the Windroses’ grim faces, Walter’s horrified expression, and all the judgmental looks from the crowd around

her.

It was as if she’d been stripped bare and tossed into a crowded street, exposed for everyone to see. The humiliation was unbearable. ‘It’s over for me, completely over,’ Yvonne thought, despair flooding her mind.

Yvonne’s eyes swept the room and landed on Emily, who was standing nearby. She remembered the smirk on Emily’s lips just before she’d gone up on stage. ‘It must be her… Yvonne thought, her mind reeling.

Somehow, Yvonne found the strength to scramble to her feet. She stumbled as she leaped off the stage.

The stage was about a foot and a half high, and with her high heels, she landed hard on her butt, twisting her ankle. But she didn’t even care about the pain in her ankle. Limping and stumbling, she rushed off in one direction.

The crowd, baffled by her frantic behavior, instinctively parted to let her through.

Yvonne rushed up to Emily and grabbed her hand. She demanded, “You… It was you, wasn’t it? You did this. You set me up!”

Her hands were shaking so badly she could barely control them, and her grip on Emily’s hand grew so tight it felt like her nails were about to break the skin.

Emily frowned slightly, but before she could jerk her hand away. Austin reached out and grabbed Yvonne’s wrist first.

The next moment, a jolt of pain shot through Yvonne’s wrist, making her let go. Then, Austin wrenched her hand free and flung Yvonne aside with force.

Already a nervous wreck, Yvonne was thrown off balance by the force and crashed to the ground.

Austin checked the red mark circling Emily’s wrist, his hand clenching into a tight fist. ‘Yvonne!’ he seethed inwardly, barely holding back his rage.

Emily seemed to sense his mood shift and reassured him, “I’m fine.” She pulled her hand back and turned to Yvonne, who was still sprawled on the floor.

Emily strode over and looked down at Yvonne, her voice icy. “Framed or not, let the cops sort it out. We’ll see soon enough. Everyone else has already paid the price. Yvonne, it’s your turn now.”

She never said Quiana’s name, because no one deserves to be remembered only as a victim. But somehow, Yvonne knew why Emily did that. She shook her head in disbelief. “Why?”

Yvonne thought, ‘Emily and Quiana never had anything to do with each other, and it’s been so many years. So, why is she suddenly dragging it all back up now?’

The only response Yvonne got was the crowd’s gossiping whispers, judgmental stares, and the flickering flashes of cameras

all around her.

To make the benefit dinner as grand as possible, the Zwick family invested a substantial amount in massive online promotions a month in advance, and on that day, they invited many reporters and media outlets.

Chapter 236

To boost the Zwick family’s national reputation, Walter adopted the hottest trend, hiring several influencers to livestream the entire event. Everything that happened here went viral online before the Zwick family even knew what hit them.

By the time the staff shut off the screen and packed up all the livestreaming gear, the police had already arrived at the scene. Yvonne, limp and defeated on the floor, was taken away by the officers.

As the police dragged her off, Yvonne struggled, her voice hoarse from screaming, “It wasn’t me. I’m innocent. Someone framed me, I swear. It wasn’t me!”
