Chapter 296

Chapter 296

Once he put his phone away, Austin grinned and sidled up to Emily, “Emily, how was my performance just now? Pretty awesome, right?”

Emily, who’d been tense from being on camera, finally relaxed a little. She didn’t hesitate to give him a big thumbs-up. “You

nailed it.”

Austin’s grin grew even brighter. “Oh, that’s just the beginning.”

“The Bennett Family keeps picking on you again and again; it’s about time they paid the price. Just wait till tonight, Emily. Check your phone then, and you’ll see,” Austin added.

He kept that mysterious smile, never spilling what he’d actually done, which just made Emily even more curious.

That evening, Emily kept refreshing her phone over and over, but aside from the news about Andrew coming to see her that afternoon, nothing else really stood out.

Just as Emily started to wonder if Austin’s plan had gone off track, a hot search started climbing the ranks like crazy. [Bennett Group Bombshell]

Emily’s heart gave a little jump when she saw those words. She quickly tapped on it. She scrolled through the posts, and it didn’t take her long to figure out what was going on.

Turned out, Bennett Group’s new product got exposed for straight-up ripping off a small, niche brand from overseas.

The other company had filed the patent first, and aside from the name, Bennett Group didn’t even bother to change the packaging.

The other company was so pissed that they sued Bennett Group right away, making it clear they wouldn’t accept any kind of

settlement.

Then, it came out that the raw materials for the new product were just cheap junk. Tons of customers started reporting all sorts of problems after using them.

This project had cost Bennett Group a fortune to buy from someone else, and they’d poured a ton of money and effort into it. It was basically the biggest, most important project the Bennett Family had taken on this year.

Later on, they handed the project over to the Jenkins Group to handle, but the supplier the Jenkins Group picked turned out to be a total scammer.

The first batch of products was made with subpar materials, and by the time anyone noticed, the supplier had already run off with all the money and vanished without a trace.

Now, not only were the Bennett Family and the Jenkins family never going to see that money again, but they were also facing a ton of lawsuits and compensation claims.

When Andrew used Charles’s funeral to promote his new product, it actually worked like a charm. Orders came flooding in, so the factory ramped up production, but now, they were stuck with all that inventory.

The excitement they’d felt when they saw the pre-order numbers was now replaced by sheer panic as they stared at the return numbers. This was Andrew getting exactly what he deserved.

Even though Emily wasn’t with the Bennett Family anymore, she could totally imagine them running around in total chaos right now.

Chapter 296

That pent-up frustration she’d been carrying since Charles’s funeral finally started to fade away. She knew all of this was the result of Austin’s hard work and careful scheming.

She also knew Austin hated hearing her say thank you all the time, so she quietly kept a mental tally of the debt she owed him and kept an eye on what would happen next.

She was dying to know how Andrew planned to claw his way out of this mess, and if the 20% of shares she still held would finally come in handy.

But to her surprise, before the Bennett Family could make any decisive moves, the Jenkins family made the first move instead.

On the surface, the Jenkins family seemed all cozy and harmonious, but behind closed doors, James and Sofia were always fighting for power.

Sofia had been in charge of the partnership with the Bennett Family, and she’d been riding high on that, always lording it over James. But now, the tables had turned, and James was the one calling the shots.

James had been planning to use this mess to cut down Sofia’s power in the company, but she didn’t even give him the chance. She was one step ahead and offered up a scapegoat first.

And that scapegoat, of course, was her so-called one and only son, Xavier.
