Chapter 315
Cale was sweating bullets, his face contorted in agony as he screamed and begged for his life. The contempt in his eyes for Emily had completely turned into fear. He could tell that Emily wanted to kill him. He thought, “This woman is insane!
Emily stopped twisting the knife, but she didn’t pull it out. She fixed her gaze on Cale, her eyes clearly saying, “If your answer doesn’t satisfy me, I’ll keep going.”
Seeing the look in her eyes, Cale didn’t dare hold anything back. He quickly blurted out, “I know Lydia’s secret. She’s not the Bennett Family’s biological daughter.”
Emily had imagined all sorts of secrets that could be used to threaten Lydia, but she never expected it to be something like this. Without hesitation, she twisted the knife again, causing Cale to convulse in pain and scream.
She said, “When Lydia suddenly showed up, the Bennett Family had everyone go to four or five different agencies for DNA tests. Do you think I’d believe you?”
With the Bennett Family’s status, it was not like just anyone could show up with a DNA test and claim to be related. One had to go through all kinds of strict checks before one could actually be accepted as family.
Back then, even Emily had to go through several rounds of DNA tests with the Bennett Family, and after all that, it was confirmed she really had no blood ties to them, while Lydia turned out to be the real Bennett by blood.
“I’m not lying, I’m telling the truth,” Cale cried out, his voice full of pain.
He struggled in agony, but his wrists and ankles were bound fast, and the chair itself was welded to the floor-no matter how he fought, it was useless.
He explained, “I don’t know how she managed it, but she isn’t a Bennett by blood. She’s my sister-my half-sister, same mom, different dads.
“Back then, my mom remarried Henry, and within two years, she gave birth to Lydia. We didn’t have the money to go to the hospital, so she was born at home.
“I was in the next room the whole time, so there’s no way there could’ve been a mix-up at the hospital.
“I’ve been using this secret to blackmail Lydia and get money from her. But I really don’t know anything else, and I never helped her do anything to hurt you. I’m telling the truth-I’m innocent.”
Emily kept a close eye on every change in Cale’s expression.
His face was etched with fear, as if he couldn’t wait to spill every secret he knew, just begging for her mercy. Honestly, he didn’t look like he was making any of this up.
Emily pondered, ‘But all those DNA test results were solid facts. If Cale is telling the truth, then how could Lydia have tampered with every single test result?
‘Back then, to keep anyone from messing with the results, the Bennett Family went to different agencies on the down-low and got the results expedited.
‘Gale, Emma, Andrew, and Lucas each did this on their own, and even they didn’t know which agencies the others had gone to. Lydia’s secret is just downright freaky!
Seeing that there was nothing more to get out of Cale, Emily didn’t bother staying any longer.
When Emily stepped out of the basement, the sunlight was so harsh that it took her a long time to open her eyes. Once she finally adjusted, she stared up at the sky, spacing out a little.
After a while, she suddenly muttered, “It’s cold.” Even she wasn’t sure if she was talking about the basement or something else

entirely.
The next moment, Austin suddenly took her hand, his cool palm wrapping around hers, sticky with blood, as if trying to pull her out of that chilling darkness.
