Chapter 330

Emily finally got a good look at her surroundings. It seemed to be a remote construction site, with building rubble everywhere and not a single person in sight.

Emily was tied to a chair. The way she was tied up was a method she was familiar with. The person standing in front of her was also someone she knew all too well.

It was such an ordinary face; so plain you’d never pick it out in a crowd. But Emily was too familiar with this face.

At St. Gabriel Reform Academy, whenever a student stepped out of line, it was the teachers who laid down the punishment. The person standing in front of her was one of the many teachers who used to keep them in line.

Even though Emily had already guessed who it was the moment she caught that familiar whiff of sedative, actually seeing him standing there made a surge of fear well up inside her, completely out of her control.

After leaving St. Gabriel Reform Academy, she’d told herself again and again: Don’t be afraid of that place anymore. You’re never going back there again. But that kind of fear wasn’t something she could just banish with a few words of reassurance.

Emily fought to keep her composure, but she still couldn’t stop a trace of fear from showing on her face.

Brady noticed and sneered, “How long has it been since I last saw that look on your face? Makes me miss those days.”

Emily’s face remained taut as she stared at him without a hint of emotion. “What do you want?”

Brady stepped forward. “What do you think I want?” He reached out and clamped his hand around Emily’s chin, squeezing so hard it felt like he might shatter her jaw.

“Number Ten, have you been living an easy life for so long that you’ve forgotten the terms we set for letting you go?” Brady asked.

Emily hadn’t forgotten. The only reason St. Gabriel Reform Academy let her walk free was because she promised to keep secrets and never talk about what went on inside those walls.

She hadn’t been fully controlled yet. If she hadn’t had some dirt at St. Gabriel Reform Academy, she probably wouldn’t have gotten out even after her two years were up.

Even after she got out, Emily knew St. Gabriel Reform Academy was still watching her every move. She was sure even the electronics she used were bugged or tracked.

There was a delicate relationship between her and St. Gabriel Reform Academy. If that relationship had lasted, she might have gone her whole life without trouble. But Vincent’s self-righteous meddling had thrown everything off.

Emily took a deep breath, forcing down the fear. She met Brady’s gaze with as calm a gaze as she could muster. “If you mean what Vincent did, that has nothing to do with me.”

“How could it have nothing to do with you?” Brady let out a mocking laugh. “If it weren’t for you, do you think he would have started investigating the academy?”

He traced his fingers along Emily’s chin, his touch cold and sinister, like a snake crawling across her skin. It made her skin crawl with goosebumps.

His grin was nasty, his eyes fierce. “The Shaw family’s power in Cloudridge isn’t something to underestimate. With Vincent himself digging into things, do you have any idea how much trouble you’ve brought down to the academy?

“You’ve made a huge mistake. Don’t you think you owe the academy something to make up for it?” As he spoke, his hand slid down Emily’s chin and neck, moving lower.

Just as his hand touched the collar of Emily’s shirt, a hand locked around his wrist. Next, he was shoved back, stumbling

several steps.

To Brady’s surprise, Emily had just been tied up and unable to move, had somehow slipped out of her restraints without his noticing.
