Chapter 378

With those words, Calvin finally left with his people, exuding an overwhelming presence that made it feel like he owned the place. It was as if a true ruler had arrived-everyone else was just meant to bow to him.

Austin sneered, “What a poser.”

The Pierce family was always putting on airs, but Calvin was the most over the top-he’d still be in a full suit even in the blazing summer heat.

Austin grumbled inwardly, ‘Doesn’t he care if he gets heat rash?’

As soon as Calvin left with his entourage, Sean and the five men he’d brought along were finally able to relax. They all let out a collective sigh of relief.

They exchanged glances, and none of them dared to stick around. They all tried to leave, but Austin’s bodyguards blocked their path.

Sean’s heart skipped a beat, but he still tried to act tough. He said, “What do you want? Let me tell you, my dad is the vice president of Bennett Group.”

He didn’t know Austin, but judging from the way Austin treated Emily just now, he figured Austin must be connected to her somehow.

He thought, ‘Emily is just some illegitimate brat who’s stolen someone else’s place-anyone tied to her couldn’t possibly be anyone important.’ Thinking of that, he got even cockier.

The next second, Austin pointed at Sean and said, “Everyone except him-hand them and all the evidence over to the police.”

Austin’s men were so well-trained that in less than a minute, they had everyone taken away. They even closed the door behind them on their way out. Now, only Austin and Sean were left in the room.

Sean was completely freaking out. He stammered, “What do you

want?”

Austin had a smile playing at his lips, and those dimples made him look innocent as a lamb. But in the dim light, his eyes lent him a creepy, almost dangerous edge.

Sean felt a chill crawl up his back, like some monster had its eyes locked right on him. He instinctively bolted toward the door, but as he spun around, his foot caught on an object and he lost his balance, pitching forward.

With a heavy thud, he crashed to the floor, knocking over two open bottles of wine from the table. The bottles hit the ground with a loud crash.

Before Sean could even cry out in pain, Austin’s voice suddenly sounded behind him.

He said, “How did you manage to press your hand right onto the glass? Look at all that blood. And your eye, too. How’d you get a wine bottle stuck in your eye?”

Sean was completely stunned. He instinctively reached up to touch his own eye. He’d hit the ground pretty hard, but his eye was totally fine, and his hand wasn’t bleeding at all.

Instinctively, he turned around in a daze, just in time to see Austin snapping shut the camera-the very one he’d used to film Emily.

Sean had no clue what Austin was planning, but instinctively, a cold, bone-deep fear crept through him. He was so terrified

he couldn’t even get to his feet-he just scrambled frantically toward the door on all fours.

When he finally managed to grab the doorknob, he realized it wouldn’t budge no matter what he did.

Sean freaked out even more, banging on the door like a madman and shouting, “Help. Somebody, help me. Open the door.

Please, someone.”

He had forgotten that he was the one who’d picked this room himself-the one with the best soundproofing in the entire

hotel.

He’d wanted Emily to experience the utter despair of screaming for help and getting nothing, but in the end, the boomerang came right back and smacked him hard.

Austin set the camera aside, still wearing that harmless, innocent smile, but his voice dropped to a sinister murmur: “Tell me, what exactly did you do to Emily just now?”
