Chapter 401

The whole place went dead silent, and even the bullet comments on the livestream froze for a few seconds. Just then, someone suddenly shouted, “Look. Tato’s live.”

Everyone was stunned. ‘Didn’t Lydia just faint? How is she already live streaming again?’ they wondered. Everyone quickly pulled out their phones and saw that the account Tato they followed had started a new live stream.

Tato had done livestreams before, but she never showed her face or spoke. She’d just play some music and draw, her slender, fair hands moving gracefully with the brush. It was always mesmerizing to watch.

The livestream looked just like all the others. But Lydia was still passed out right in front of them. ‘How could Tato be live- streaming right now? Wait, does that mean she was never Tato?’ they thought.

Everyone was staring at Lydia, who had fainted. Maybe everyone was just too stunned by the sudden turn of events, but no one even thought about taking her to the hospital.

With so many intense gazes on her, Lydia would have woken up even if she had really fainted, let alone from a fake one. Her eyelids twitched uncontrollably, and this moment was clearly captured by many cameras.

Just then, the ever-static camera on Tato’s livestream suddenly turned around, revealing the face of a slim, beautiful girl. Anyone familiar with her recognized her instantly. It was Emily.

Emily looked into the camera with a faint smile. “Hi, everyone. I’m Tato.

“I’ve seen the news online. I never expected that my habit of not showing my face would give someone else the chance to pretend to be me. Sorry for any trouble this might have caused everyone.”

Her tone was gentle and polite, her words simple, but it was like two hard slaps right across Lydia’s face. Even Lydia, who was supposed to be unconscious, couldn’t keep a straight face.

Maureen, standing closest, caught the change in Lydia’s expression and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Turns out she didn’t just plagiarize the work, she even stole the identity.

“Who would’ve thought the Bennett Family’s precious heiress could be this shameless?”

Maureen had a microphone clipped to her collar, so her voice carried clearly throughout the venue and was broadcast live to everyone watching online.

In an instant, everyone jumped in to mock Lydia, echoing Maureen’s words. Even the fans who had been defending her fell silent.

Lydia was barely containing her panic and fury, struggling to keep up the act of being unconscious. Her face was twisted in a barely-suppressed grimace.

That was until she heard Maureen say, “People like her, with neither talent nor integrity, should be blacklisted. I ought to tell Amy to call on the whole industry to boycott people like that.”

Lydia couldn’t take it anymore. She suddenly sprang up from the floor, blurting out. “No, that’s all lies! She stole my account.

I’m the real Tato.”

A bunch of people were actually startled by Lydia’s miraculous recovery. Once they realized what had just happened, their faces were a mix of awkwardness and speechlessness.

Maureen was even more direct, immediately calling out her act. “Ms. Bennett, weren’t you just passed out? How did you wake up all of a sudden?”

Lydia glared at Maureen, her eyes so dark and fierce it was like she wanted to devour her on the spot. ‘Once this is over, I’m definitely going to get back at Maureen,’ Lydia thought inwardly.

Lydia bit her lip, completely ignoring Maureen’s question. She turned to the live stream camera with a pitiful expression. “I am the real Tato. My account was hacked a long time ago, which is why there was such a long hiatus.

“But I never thought the one who stole my account would be Emily. Back in college, she plagiarized my work. Everyone at school knew about it. It was even posted on the school bulletin. If you don’t believe me, you can look it up.”
