Chapter 408
The Bennett family’s apologies seemed genuinely sincere. They always brought gifts, showed up rain or shine, and never lost their temper when Emily gave them the cold shoulder. But they kept saying that everything was Lydia’s fault, and they were just led astray.
Emily thought it was laughable, and it only made her even more determined to never see those people who made her sick.
With Austin’s arrangements, the Bennett family had no way of finding Emily, so she was never bothered by them at all. But this didn’t mean no one else could.
That day, as soon as Emily got home, she found a package. There was no information about the sender on the package, which gave it a strange feeling.
Austin’s first instinct was to immediately pull Emily behind him and order someone to deal with the package. It wasn’t long before his men came back to report that there was nothing dangerous inside but just a strange mask.
“A mask?” Austin looked puzzled and asked, “What kind of mask?”
“It’s a pitch-black smiling mask,” the bodyguard replied.
Austin’s frown deepened. He had no clue what this weird mask was about. But then he noticed Emily’s face went instantly pale. It was obvious this mask was meant for Emily.
Austin shot the bodyguard a look, and the bodyguard instantly got the message, turning to take care of the mask.
“Wait,” Emily suddenly said, her voice trembling. “Bring that mask here. She had to see it with her own eyes.
Emily had already guessed what was coming and tried to brace herself, but the moment she saw the mask, a jolt of fear shot through her. She flinched so hard that the mask slipped from her hands and crashed to the floor.
It was like she’d been dragged straight into a nightmare. Her face went ghostly pale. She felt as if a giant invisible hand was squeezing her throat, making every breath she took extremely difficult.
Austin reacted instantly, catching Emily just as she was about to collapse, and with a swift, decisive kick, he sent the mask skidding far across the floor.
“Emily…” Austin called out, his face full of worry, but he didn’t know what else to say. He just kept repeating, “I’m here, Emily. I’m right here.”
Perhaps because of his words, Emily gradually began to calm down, though her face was still very pale.
Austin gently supported Emily and said, “Let me take you upstairs to rest for a bit.” After that, he glanced at the bodyguard, signaling for him to deal with the mask right away.
Emily followed Austin upstairs in silence, wordlessly allowing him to help her settle onto the bed. But just as Austin was about to leave, Emily suddenly reached out and grabbed his hand.
Austin could sense that Emily was in a very bad state at the moment, but he didn’t know what to say.
It was Emily who spoke first. “Have you been looking into St. Gabriel Reform Academy?”
Austin never tried to hide his actions from Emily, so Emily knew what Austin was up to.
Austin didn’t even bother to hide it. He nodded and said, “I want to destroy the entire St. Gabriel Reform Academy.”

Emily’s grip on Austin’s hand tightened unconsciously. She said. “Do you know what you’re up against? You’ll die.
Just bearing the name St. Gabriel Reform Academy made Emily’s heart tremble with fear all over again.
Sensing Emily’s fear, Austin gently ran his fingers over the back of her hand and smiled. “I know. But if I hadn’t been lucky enough to meet you, I’d have been dead a long time ago.”
So even if he ended up losing to St. Gabriel Reform Academy and died, he’d still count himself lucky.
