Chapter 413

She wasn’t an idiot. The fact that Andrew’s words got to her so fast was just his way of putting on a show, trying to play nice.

But as far as she was concerned, their so-called kindness just made her sick to her stomach. Nothing more.

But the Bennett family’s guilt actually worked in her favor. At that point, even if Emily’s moves were right out in the open, they didn’t bat an eye. In fact, they’d even go out of their way to help her.

After all, she was family, their own flesh and blood. They figured everything she was doing was just venting her anger, and they were sure she’d never actually do anything to harm the Bennett family’s interests.

Emily knew what was going on in their heads. After a cold laugh, she went after them even more ruthlessly. In less than two weeks, she had all her preparations lined up and ready to go.

On the surface, Andrew still looked like the one calling the shots at the Bennett Group, but if Emily snapped her fingers, the whole company could change hands in an instant.

The Bennett family was clueless, still going out of their way trying to win Emily’s forgiveness.

Emma, especially, every time she spotted Emily from afar, was about to cry any second. If one didn’t know the real story, one’d think she was some pitiful mom who’d done everything for her kids, only to be ignored.

“Emily, I know I was wrong. Please, just let me see you, okay?” Emma pleaded. She stood at the company entrance, her eyes all red from crying, looking pitiful.

People were coming and going, but Emma didn’t seem to care that everyone was watching. All she wanted was for Emily to forgive her.

“Look at Mrs. Bennett. She does look like she knows she screwed up.”

“Well, she’s a mom after all. She got misled and ended up letting her own daughter suffer so much. She must be eating herself up with regret.”

“So, what if she regrets it? Back when the Bennett family held that press conference and publicly changed Ms. Harper’s last name, they didn’t care at all about saving her any dignity.”

“Now that they know Emily’s their real daughter, they’re suddenly all full of remorse? Isn’t that just laughable?”

However, no matter how much everyone whispered and gossiped behind Emma’s back, nobody dared to point fingers at her or confront her.

Since Lydia and the system were no longer around to stir up trouble, even the random bystanders in this world seemed to have their morals back in order.

But Emma was the exception. She hadn’t noticed any of that. Having spent her whole life at the top, always being flattered and put on a pedestal, she had no idea what people were saying about her behind her back.

Every now and then, she could sense people casting gossipy glances her way, but she just assumed it was because they pitied

her current situation.

In her mind, no matter how badly a mother messed up, she should always be forgiven by her children, especially now that she was truly sorry.

With so many people watching, surely Emily will forgive me, right?’ Emma comforted herself.

At first, Emily had no clue about Emma’s schemes, nor did she care how Emma was putting on her act as the regretful mom in the company lobby.

It wasn’t until a teammate kindly reminded her, “Ms. Harper, you may check the group chat,” that she realized she had been left behind.

Every company had its own group chat, and Emily was also in Bennett Group’s chat. But there were so many messages every day that she’d muted the chat ages ago and had no idea what was happening.

When she opened it, Emily saw the group chat was in chaos, everyone arguing about whether she should forgive Emma or

not.

In an instant, Emily understood exactly what Emma was up to. Emma was trying to use public opinion to make her forgive them.

‘So, this is what the Bennett family calls sincerity, Emily sneered to herself.
