Chapter 431

Back then, Emily had risked her life to save him, showing that, in her eyes, his life mattered as much as hers. That was why he chose this place for their meeting, hoping it would remind her of the bond they once shared.

Emily saw what he was trying to do, but she couldn’t care less. Since it didn’t matter to her, she agreed right away, like that place was no different from a random coffee shop.

Lucas, though, didn’t get it. When he saw Emily, he was visibly excited. “Emily, you finally agreed to see me. Do you remember this place? This is where you put your life on the line to save me.

“You got badly hurt saving me, and ended up in the hospital in a coma for days. The first thing you did when you woke up was worry about me,” he said, looking like reliving some beautiful memories.

Emily shot him a casual glance, the corners of her lips lifting in a sarcastic smile. “Yeah, I nearly lost my life that time, but the very first thing you did when you saw me was slap me.”

Lucas’s expression froze.

Emily shot him a look of disdain, not interested in wasting words. She pulled out the contract she’d already prepared.

She said, “This is the share transfer agreement. If I just take them for free like you suggested, I’m worried you will use them to be against me.

‘So, I’m buying them at the current market price. If you have no objections, sign it.” She was completely detached, treating he whole thing like a business transaction.

Lucas felt like a sharp needle had pierced his heart. “Emily, I…” Lucas choked.

just as Lucas started to speak, the roar of engines suddenly filled the air. Then, out of nowhere, three or four black sedans pulled up, and a dozen men jumped out, armed with knives, iron bars, and ropes.

Before Lucas could even process what was happening, Emily’s bodyguards immediately surrounded her, shielding her, and quietly alerted the others to support.

Emily immediately recognized the man at the front-it was Brady, the “teacher” from St. Gabriel Reform Academy. Lucas recognized him, too.

Their aggressive look made Lucas suddenly feel a wave of fear. “Didn’t you say you only wanted money? What the hell are you trying to pull now?”

As soon as she heard those words, Emily instantly realized what Lucas was really up to by asking her out here. She didn’t expect Lucas would get mixed up with the people from St. Gabriel Reform Academy.

Brady completely ignored Lucas, his eyes fixed on Emily with a dark, intense gaze. “It wasn’t easy getting you to show up.”

Emily stayed calm, her voice steady. “We agreed to stay out of each other’s way. Are you trying to break that deal?”

“Aren’t you the one who broke it?” Brady sneered. “All those things that have been happening lately-are you the one pulling strings behind the scenes?”

Emily wasn’t going to admit a thing. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” As long as he didn’t have any real evidence, she’d never confess-she’d drag things out as long as possible.

But Brady’s ruthlessness and decisiveness caught Emily off guard. “Whether you’re the one pulling strings or not, we’ll know for sure once you come with us,” he said. With that, he signaled his men to grab Emily.

Chapter 431

Lucas had no idea what was happening, but he was hit by a sudden, instinctive panic. He honestly thought these guys were only in it for the money-that was the only reason he’d agreed to lure Emily out for them.

Seeing how they were acting now, Lucas instantly realized he’d been used. He hurried forward to block their way, panic in his voice. “What are you trying to do-”

Before he could even finish, Brady shoved him hard, slamming him straight into the car beside them.
