Chapter 175
A soft chuckle from the doorway immediately caught the attention of the so–called “warm and harmonious” siblings.
Andrew’s affectionate look disappeared in a flash, replaced by a frown as he glanced at Emily standing at the door. “What are you laughing at?”
Emily lowered her hand from her chest, her face turning cold. “I just never thought that someone as strict with the rules as Mr. Bennett would actually let someone else meddle in company business.”
It was like she was deliberately ripping open the old wounds in her heart, just to make herself feel the pain. She kept at it until the pain turned numb only then could she truly let go.
Emily said, “Back then, I just said a few nice words for Sean’s dad. I didn’t even really ask you for help, Mr. Bennett, but you still got mad at me. You said I was overstepping and didn’t know my place.
“You told me that girls should just go shopping and buy handbags, not meddle in things that aren’t their business.”
“But now…” Emily trailed off. She shot a sideways glance at Lydia, the implication in her eyes obvious.
Andrew instinctively avoided Emily’s gaze, as if he were feeling a pang of guilt inside.
He’d been raised as the Bennett Family’s heir since childhood, taught that the company’s interests always came first. So, no matter how much he cared for Emily back then, he just couldn’t accept her getting involved in company matters.
But when it came to Lydia’s requests, it just didn’t seem like a big deal to him anymore.
It was as if, as long as Lydia was happy, he’d do anything for her. Even if she wanted the stars in the sky, he’d find a way to bring them down for her.
When Andrew stared at her, momentarily lost in thought, Lydia felt a flash of panic. Andrew was no fool like Lucas, but if he started locking into things…
Lydia quickly jumped in, “I remember that, too. After Andrew even got into a fight with Andrew over it.”

Andrew was pulled back to the present by her words and gave her a confused look. “How do you know about that?” He remembered that Lydia wasn’t even back with the Bennett family yet at that time.
Lydia beamed at him. “Lila told me. She said she had to talk to Emily for ages before she finally cooled off.”
When she heard the name “Lila,” Emily froze, and her hand unconsciously tightened at her side. She instinctively glanced at Andrew, and sure enough, his face had gone cold.
Lila was Andrew’s one untouchable taboo all these years, the wedge that would forever keep him and Emily apart.
No matter how many times Emily tried to explain, even though there was ne proof she did it, in Andrew’s eyes, she was still the unforgivable killer.
Andrew’s gaze turned icy as he looked at Emily. “The Bennett family spent a fortune sending you to St. Gabriel Reform Academy to set you straight, but you still haven’t learned a thing. You’re always trying to compete with Lydia over everything.
“Lydia recommended the Jenkins family for the company’s new project out of pure kindness. But you? You’ve been living off the Bennett Family all this time, and you can’t even show a little gratitude.
“Not only are you ungrateful, but you also have the nerve to act all bitter and jealous here?”
Emily pressed her lips together, not saying a word. ‘Spent a fortune sending me to St. Gabriel Reform Academy? What a joke. Yeah, I’m just so grateful to them,‘ she thought with a cold sneer,
Emily kept her head slightly lowered. “You’re right, Mr. Bennett. I don’t have the right to speak here. I’ll leave you two alone.” She didn’t spare them › single glance and headed straight for her own room.

Lydia, however, felt that wasn’t enough and kept stirring the pot. “Andrew, don’t be so harsh on Emily. I really don’t think that’s what she meant
