Chapter 325

She thought, ‘Let the pros handle it. I can’t wait to see what kind of bizarre tricks Lydia would pull to get herself out of trouble if the cops took her away!

Lydia stiffened, panic flashing in her eyes.

Her scheme against Emily today was improvised. She’d pulled this kind of stunt before and always got away with it, so she never expected Emily to turn the tables. There was no way she could stand up to a real investigation.

Lydia lowered her gaze, her hands unconsciously tightening as she racked her brain for a way out.

What Lydia didn’t realize was that, at that very moment, Amy had caught every single ‘change in her expression.

Amy had heard from her niece earlier that Lydia was Tato. At that moment, she felt a sharp pang of disappointment that Tato could be someone so morally rotten.

Amy genuinely loved Tato’s talent and that unique aura she had.

Over the years, Amy had traveled all over, meeting plenty of prodigies-some even more gifted than Tato.

But the way Tato managed to blend struggle, complexity, and those extreme opposites in her art-Amy had never seen anyone pull it off so well before.

She’d seen in Tato’s paintings that, even in the deepest darkness, her soul still clung to a sliver of light and purity. But she never imagined that meeting the real Tato in person would be such a shock.

Because she genuinely regretted the thought of losing such a rare talent, Amy didn’t immediately agree to Emily’s request.

Emily picked up on Amy’s hesitation right away. She had no clue how Lydia had managed to get into Amy’s good graces, but Amy was her idol.

Besides, this was Amy’s party, her turf, so Emily was determined to respect whatever decision Amy made. Emily thought, ‘I have got Lydia’s hair anyway. There is no reason to stick around and put Amy in a tough spot.

Just as Emily was about to say something, a voice suddenly spoke up, “Actually, there’s no need to call the police. I know what happened.”

Everyone turned toward the source of the voice, and out from the small, shadowy balcony at the back stepped a girl with a round face and an adorably lively look.

It was the same girl who’d been spreading the word earlier that Amy was looking for Tato.

The girl pointed right at Lydia and said, “I saw it with my own eyes. She came over to Emily with that box, saying all sorts of strange things and grinning in this creepily smug way.

“Then she opened the box herself. The jewelry inside was already broken, but she immediately started shouting and blaming Emily for it.”

Lydia never imagined that someone would be standing on that dark little balcony, hidden away in the corner. She completely lost control, her face turning an ugly shade of purple with shock and anger.

But she quickly pulled herself together and started sobbing, putting on a pitiful show. She wailed, “I don’t even know you! Why are you slandering me like this?”

Then she turned her tearful gaze to Emily and said, “Emily, I never thought you’d even go so far as to prepare a witness against me. Why do you have to be so cruel to me?”

Before Emily could say a word, the girl burst out laughing. She said, “So what, you think I got paid off by Emily and just showed up to make up stuff and frame you?”

Lydia choked out, “Everyone in Cloudridge knows Emily doesn’t like me. If this is what it takes to make her happy, then I’ll just have to swallow the injustice.”

She didn’t answer the girl directly, but the way she talked admitted it without even saying it outright.

If it were anyone else, they would’ve totally lost it by now and started cursing her out. But the girl just stood there, stunned for a second, then suddenly burst out laughing.
