Chapter 340

Just as Emily expected, after testing the waters a few times, she noticed that Lydia would get really tense whenever she interacted with Jeremy. It was as if Lydia was afraid Emily might get close to Jeremy.

With this conclusion, Emily felt even more confused. Chances were, Lydia was getting close to Jeremy just to try and steal him from her. But the truth was, Emily was obviously more interested in Austin than Jeremy.

Even though Lydia had tried to flirt with Austin before, after getting scolded a few times, she stopped trying. It was clear she had given up.

Emily thought about it over and over but couldn’t figure out why Lydia was acting this way, but there was one thing she was sure of. Lydia’s odd behavior definitely had something to do with the strange part of her.

Emily really wanted to look into this further, but now was clearly not the right time. If she acted rashly, she might tip them off, so for now, she just had someone keep an eye on the two of them.

She had bigger things to deal with right now. Even though Emily had managed to secure a spot at Bennett Group, she knew she could get kicked out at any moment. Her only shot was to deliver on the project she had in hand.

But there was no way she could pull it off alone. Andrew was deliberately making things difficult for her, using the excuse, “We’ve got too many projects and everyone’s slammed. No one has time to help you.”

He didn’t give her a single person to help out. So, to keep things moving, Emily had no choice but to recruit her own team from outside. That alone ate up a ton of her time.

But at least these people were loyal to her. In the future, she could just leave Bennett Group with her whole team in tow, and there was nothing Andrew could do about it.

Once Emily had her team together, she finally brought them into Bennett Group. As soon as they walked in, they ran into Sean, who was strutting around like he owned the place.

Ever since Emily had “lost it” and hurt him at the Bennett residence, Sean had been laid up at home for a long time.

Since they had gotten some benefits from the Bennett Family, Matthew was worried Sean might try to get back at Emily and stir up more trouble.

So, he just shoved Sean into the company and gave him some work to keep him busy, which was why Sean hadn’t shown up

in a while.

It had been so long since Emily had seen Sean that she had almost forgotten he even existed. So, when they ran into each other at the company entrance, she didn’t even recognize him. She just walked right past him without even looking his way.

Sean, who had been ready to throw some shade her way, was left standing there awkwardly. He could feel all the mocking stares around him.

“Hey, you. Stop right there!” he yelled, his voice full of anger. But Emily didn’t even flinch, acting like she hadn’t heard a thing.

That made Sean even angrier. He snapped at his bodyguard, “Stop her!” His bodyguard immediately rushed forward, blocking Emily and her team.

The bodyguard was a woman about Emily’s height. She looked pretty average, but that icy expression of hers made her stand out with a sharp, intimidating vibe.

Emily didn’t bother giving the bodyguard a second glance. She turned to Sean and couldn’t help but frown. “Is there a problem?”

Sean tilted his chin up, all arrogant, like he was about to swagger over, but then something seemed to cross his mind. He

quietly stepped back, widening the gap between them.

Obviously, he still remembered the time Emily had gone off the rails and nearly taken a chunk out of him. His guard was

way up.
