Chapter 348

Vincent stared blankly at the screen for a long while, his mind torn by two different voices.

One of them said, “See? The woman you’ve loved all these years is actually unfaithful and cunning. She doesn’t love you at all. She’s been lying to you.”

The other argued, “That’s not true. Lydia is kind and innocent. There have to be some mistakes. She wouldn’t do that.”

These two voices seemed to tear Vincent apart, causing sharp pain in his head. Only when he heard Emily’s voice did he slowly come back to his senses.

It was as if he suddenly grasped some truth. He said, “It’s you. You set Lydia up.” Vincent leaned on the table, excited as if he had found the perfect excuse, but his trembling hand betrayed him.

Emily smiled softly, not shocked by his reaction at all. Whether Lydia was involved or not, Vincent always blamed her. It seemed to have become his habit over the years.

Emily and Vincent had grown up together. She truly loved him-distant and aloof as he seemed, he had always treated her with quiet kindness.

Seeing him lose composure for the first time over another woman, and hearing his misunderstanding and accusations, Emily thought she should have felt deeply hurt.

Yet she simply stared calmly at him, unfazed. She even chuckled sarcastically. “How could I set her up? Is the person on the screen not Lydia? Or did I force her to say those things just now?”

Vincent’s lips trembled, but he couldn’t get a single word out.

Even so, a voice in his mind kept saying, “You’re misled. You got Lydia wrong. She’s kind and innocent. There must be some misunderstanding. It was all Emily’s doing. She’s jealous of Lydia, so she’s been framing her all along.”

Vincent didn’t know exactly what Emily did wrong, but that voice kept playing over and over in his head like a curse he couldn’t shake.

Seeing the disbelief still lingering in his eyes, Emily didn’t hold back. “Vincent, if you’re still doubtful, why don’t you go. down and face them directly?

“I’ve backed up the surveillance footage. They haven’t left yet. Do you want to go see for yourself? You’ll soon find out if I framed her or not.”

Emily remained composed and even stood up, ready to accompany him downstairs to confront them.

However, Vincent didn’t move, looking even paler than before.

Emily let out a sarcastic laugh. It sounded harsh to Vincent, but he couldn’t do anything about it.

Emily looked down at Vincent. “I’m leaving the laptop here. You can take a good look at your sweet fiancée’s dark side.”

With that, Emily walked away without the slightest hesitation.

Vincent remained dazed, eyes fixed on the screen. Lydia was still smiling beautifully, unaware of what was going on, occasionally throwing Jeremy suggestive glances.

Vincent felt depressed. He sat for so long that his limbs went numb before he finally staggered to his feet. Casting a glance at the laptop, he slowly went downstairs.

He walked over to the building across the street and stood at the door for a long time, but he never went in. In the end, he left.

Emily sat silently in a nearby car, observing his every move. Seeing that he finally chose to leave, not even taking the laptop, she couldn’t help but sneer.

She knew that, given how much the Bennett family and Vincent liked Lydia, they wouldn’t believe even what they saw with their own eyes.

However, what she wanted at first was never for Vincent to break with Lydia over this.

She only wanted to know who mattered more to Lydia-Jeremy or Vincent. She wanted to see if Lydia could use her tricks to keep both men.

Without a second thought, Emily told Lydia about Vincent catching her with Jeremy on their date. And just as she expected, Lydia went straight to Vincent.

She skillfully feigned innocence and came up with a so-so excuse for meeting Jeremy. With her “skills” backing her up, she quickly won Vincent’s forgiveness.

Of course, that was just what Lydia thought. She had no idea that Vincent had already seen her other side, nor how much hidden meaning was in his forgiveness, but she did feel his attitude toward her had changed a bit.

After knowing Vincent for so long, she knew he seemed modest but was actually very proud, and he couldn’t stand having his reputation tarnished.

It was normal for him to be upset that his fiancée met another guy behind his back.

Lydia was more than willing to soothe him because, after all, he was the leading man in her story. And ever since she felt she had Jeremy under control, she was in an even better mood.

She made sure to spend more time with Vincent, growing their bond. However, Jeremy started asking her out more frequently.

She thought she had just won Jeremy over, and this was the perfect time to keep him close. Turning him down too often now would only risk losing him, so she managed to see him.

Lydia spent almost all her effort handling these two guys, getting worn out every day. As a result, she had no energy left to mess with Emily and her project.

Emily’s work suddenly got a lot easier.

As the project officially got on track and Lydia grew haggard from exhaustion, Jeremy finally came to see Emily.

He was a businessman willing to do whatever it took to reach his goals. Agreeing to help Emily set a trap for Lydia came with

a price he wanted to know exactly what Zack had said to her
