Chapter 353
Lucas turned his head stiffly, his cheek still red and swollen, and met Emma’s eyes. She looked at him with such hatred, as if he were her worst enemy, not her own son.
Lucas felt as if needles were stabbing into his heart, the pain far worse than the slap on his face. “Mom.”
“Don’t call me Mom,” Emma snapped, her face full of disappointment. “I don’t have a useless son who can’t even tell right from wrong, siding with outsiders to bully Lydia.”
A deep sense of helplessness washed over Lucas. “I’m not lying to you. Emily is the real member of the Bennett Family, and Lydia is the imposter.
“I have no idea how Lydia managed to tamper with all the test results back then, but I was the one who personally collected every single DNA sample for these tests.
“No one else even knew about it except me, so there is absolutely no way there could have been any mistake.
“To be extra sure, I didn’t just go back to the original testing agencies. I also had tests done in other provinces and even overseas. The results all came back the same.”
But even after Lucas said all that, the Bennett Family just looked at him with even more disappointment in their eyes.
Gale let out a heavy sigh. “If I’d known Emily would turn out to be such a curse, I should’ve kicked her out the moment I learned who she really was.”
Emma shook her head, full of disappointment. “Lucas, I always thought you were just a troublemaker, but I never imagined you’d go so far as to turn your back on your own sister.
‘Sometimes I wish you weren’t my son, just like Emily. So, you could never hurt Lydia again.”
Andrew put on that stern expression Lucas feared most. “Lucas, this is your last chance. Apologize to Lydia right now.”
Vincent, as an outsider, naturally kept quiet, but his gaze at Lucas was burning with anger. Lucas stood there, dazed, staring at the people in front of him.
They’d lived under the same roof for over twenty years, but now, it was as if he was looking at complete strangers-so unfamiliar it was almost frightening.
The evidence was right in front of their eyes, and Lydia was so obviously putting on an act, so why were they all turning a blind eye, pretending not to see a thing?’ Lucas wondered.
He couldn’t help but take a couple of steps back, looking like he’d just seen a ghost. “Y-you’ve all been brainwashed by Lydia. You’re all out of your minds.”
His words only made the Bennett Family look at him with even more disappointment.
“I think you’ve really lost your mind,” Andrew said coldly. “From today on, move out of the Bennett residence. You’re not allowed to show up in front of Lydia again.
“I’ll have your bank cards frozen, and I’ll make sure no one out there gives you any special treatment because of your status as a Bennett. When you finally realize your mistake, then things can go back to how they were.”
If before, telling Lucas to “get out of the Bennett Family” was just something they said in anger, Andrew’s decision now was real. He was truly kicking Lucas out.
And no one in the Bennett Family spoke up against Andrew’s order, clearly giving their silent approval.
Lucas’s eyes went wide, his rims turning red. “You’re really going to kick me out of the Bennett Family for some random fake like her?” Lucas had never looked this devastated before.
He’d always been impulsive and stubborn, getting plenty of beatings from Gale and lectures from Andrew when he was a kid. But even so, he always acted like nothing could scare him, never willing to admit defeat.
