Chapter 356
After she finally stopped laughing, Emily straightened up, wiped the tears from her face, and waved the test results in the air. “So Lucas, what exactly are you trying to prove by shoving this in my face?”
Lucas was at a loss. “I just want to tell you, I know I was wrong. Even if they don’t believe the test results, I do. I’ll make sure you return to the Bennett family, and Lydia gives back what’s yours.
“I know you’re mad at me for how I treated you before, but I was lied to as well. You really are my sister, and these test results prove it. Please, you have to believe me.”
“Believe you?” Emily let out a cold scoff. “You really think just waving this around is enough to make me believe you? Lucas, did you forget what you told me on your birthday that first year Lydia came back?”
Lucas was stunned, clearly drawing a blank for a moment. But then, bit by bit, his face turned pale. And then it all came back to him.
On his birthday, Emily had spent months scrimping and saving, just to carefully customize his sports car as a gift for him, but he smashed it to pieces.
All because he believed what Lydia said, thinking Emily had ruined the cake Lydia made for him out of jealousy.
When Emily tried to show him proof of her innocence, just a single tear from Lydia was enough for him to start yelling insults at Emily.
He’d said, “You really think just showing me some so-called evidence is gonna make me believe you? Emily, no matter what you show me, if it’s about you, it’s all fake to me.
“Because all you ever do is bully Lydia. You’re just a spiteful, nasty piece of work.”
Seeing Lucas’s reaction, Emily’s smile grew even more mocking. “Looks like it’s all coming back to you now, Mr. Bennett.”
Lucas’s face went even paler, and he swayed on his feet, like he might collapse. “I…” For a long moment, he couldn’t get a single word out, and he couldn’t even meet Emily’s eyes.
Under Emily’s increasingly mocking gaze, he finally managed to find his voice again. “Emily, I really know I messed up.
“I know I hurt you so much, and I’m sorry. I’ll do anything to make it up to you. Could you please give me another chance?”
Emily’s face was utterly calm, not a ripple of emotion. “Tell me, Lucas, if I killed you, then stood at your grave and said sorry, would you actually forgive me?”
Lucas just couldn’t understand why she had to make things sound so serious. He knew he’d hurt Emily, but he was tricked too, and he already realized he was wrong.
‘Emily’s standing right here, perfectly fine, and we’re both still young. Why won’t she just give me a chance to make it up to her?’ Lucas thought.
Lucas just couldn’t figure it out, and he had no answer for her. He was completely lost, not knowing what else to say. All he could do was ask, “Emily, what do I have to do for you to forgive me?”
Emily stared right at him, not even mad at how he kept clinging on. Instead, she asked seriously, “Can you turn back time and undo everything that happened to me? Can you make it so none of it ever happened?”
Lucas was at a loss for words. Seeing this, Emily let out a light laugh. “If you can’t do that, then don’t bother asking me for forgiveness ever again.”

“You make me sick.” With those four words, Emily turned and walked away without a second thought, letting the test results fall to the ground.
Just like that, she discarded those ridiculous, foolish relatives of hers ruthlessly, without a hint of hesitation.
Seeing Emily walk away like that, Lucas was so shaken he almost couldn’t stand, his whole body swaying as if he might collapse right there.
Out of nowhere, Vincent suddenly showed up and grabbed him, steadying him before he could hit the ground.
