Chapter 362

‘If I managed to leave St. Gabriel Reform Academy alive because Jackson and the others risked everything for me, then the very first person who ever reached out a hand to me when I was trapped in hell was Deborah.

Emily would never forget the way Deborah died right in front of her eyes.

It was because of Deborah that Emily made up her mind to stand up and fight back against St. Gabriel Reform Academy.

The car was suddenly filled with silence. The air was heavy and oppressive.

After a long time, Isolde broke the silence. “Where did Deborah go all those years? Did Sean sell her out? Who was the one who bought her away?”

There were just too many questions eating away at Isolde, which she had been desperately hunting for answers to all these

years.

However, Emily couldn’t bring herself to answer that first question because she couldn’t tell Isolde anything about St. Gabriel Reform Academy.

She could only say, “Back then, Sean sold Deborah out to her employer. She fought back with everything she had, so the employer decided to lock her up and teach her a lesson. That was when I met her.

“She told me once that the employer was Adrian Mercer from the Mercer family in Cloudridge.”

The Mercer family wasn’t exactly one of the most powerful families in Cloudridge, but they built their fortune in the underworld and now ran both sides of the law. People didn’t dare cross them.

It was clear this was the first time Isolde had ever learned the true identity of that employer.

All these years, Isolde had worked her way up to Sean’s side and held back from making a move to search for who that employer was.

But Sean didn’t want his people to realize he was the sort of employer who might betray them at any time, fearing they would no longer risk their lives for him. Therefore, he secretly destroyed all the related records.

That was why Isolde had never been able to find out the truth.

Now that Isolde finally had the answer she had been chasing for years, all that hatred she had buried was about to burst out. She could barely hold it back anymore.

She tossed the document she brought into Emily’s arms. “Sean is coming for you. Be careful.”

With that, Isolde pulled the car door open and was ready to get out.

She was going to settle the score. All those years of her holding back were just for revenge.

Emily realized what Isolde was about to do in a flash and hurried out of the car to block her path.

“Wait.” Emily grabbed Isolde’s arm and said, “Are you planning to avenge Deborah?”

Isolde’s aura was cold as ice. Aside from her face being a little pale, one couldn’t see any hint of the emotional mess she had been in just moments ago.

Isolde was grateful to Emily for bringing her the truth, but that didn’t mean she would let Emily butt into her choices.

Isolde said. “This is my own business. It’s got nothing to do with you.”

She tried to pull her hand away, but Emily gripped her more tightly. Emily said. “Your business may have nothing to do with me, but I promised Deborah I’d look out for you and make sure you live your life safe and happy.

“You were the only person she worried about before she died.”

Going after either Sean or the Mercer family wouldn’t be easy, even with all the power Emily had now, let alone Isolde

herself.

If Deborah knew the sister she cared about most was throwing her life away for revenge, Deborah would never rest in peace.

Isolde couldn’t keep up her icy demeanor anymore. Her eyes turned red with emotion. She clenched her fists, and her whole body trembled, whether it was out of anger or grief.

“But Deborah died.” Isolde’s voice was hoarse. “If I turn a blind eye and pretend I don’t know who killed her just to live some so-called peaceful life, I’ll never be at peace.”

Isolde felt embarrassed and sorry for Deborah if she really spent the rest of her days muddling through.

Even though Emily hadn’t spent much time with Isolde, she could tell the girl was stubborn to the core, just like Deborah.

After a moment of silence, Emily let go of Isolde’s hand. “If you’re set on revenge, I won’t stand in your way. But you have to come with me somewhere before that.”
