Chapter 389

Emily slapped him hard with a loud smack that echoed through the room. She had put everything she had into that slap, like she was letting out years of bottled-up anger all at once.

Andrew was a grown man, but even he couldn’t stay on his feet. The force knocked him sideways. Right next to him was a

table covered with decorative items.

As he fell, his forehead slammed right into the corner of it. Warm blood immediately started running down his face. He got so dizzy that he nearly collapsed, but he managed to grab onto a chair just in time to keep from hitting the floor.

It took him a while to shake off the dizziness. When he finally turned around, hand still pressed against his bleeding forehead, he looked at Emily in shock.

“You are insane? You hit me!” he shouted. Emily had hit him so hard that her hand hurt.

She shook out her wrist, stayed calm, and looked him in the eye. “Mr. Bennett, don’t take it so personally. It was just a slap. It’s not like I tried to kill you.”

A cold smirk tugged at her lips. “See? You’re still standing.” She had just used his own words against him, and Andrew instantly realized she’d done it on purpose.

He just tried to convince her to go patch things up with Sean. But now that the slap landed on him, there was no way he was going to take the high road.

Andrew snapped, “Emily, you’ve completely lost it. Have I been too easy on you?”

He was always a calm, level-headed type. The only times he ever blew up were when someone on his team seriously hurt th company’s bottom line or, back in the day, when Emily was still the Bennetts’ favorite and someone dared to mess with her.

Even then, Emily was scared of him when he was mad. But now, she just stared at him, totally calm, and let out a cold laugh. ‘Mr. Bennett, keep your so-called kindness. I don’t need it.”

She had no interest in wasting another second on someone like him. She turned and walked right out the door.

As she left, she flung the office door wide open on purpose so everyone walking by could get a good look at Andrew, the mar known for always keeping it together, now standing there humiliated.

When Andrew saw what she did, his rage flared up again. He thought to himself, ‘I did spoil her too much. That’s why she’s this bold now. Fine. If that’s how it is, then I’m not going to pull the brother act again.

Holding his bleeding forehead with one hand, he picked up the internal phone line with the other. “Get ready. Call all the shareholders. I want to schedule an emergency meeting. Emily is out. I’m stripping her of her Vice President title.”

Even though he tried to sound composed, the anger in his voice was impossible to hide. Emily got the VP position because she made a deal with the shareholders.

She was leading projects worth millions. Firing her before the results came in meant walking away from massive profits. This was the first time Andrew ever made a decision that didn’t put the company’s interests first.

So when Emily found out he was planning to call a shareholder meeting to kick her out, she stood there frozen for a second and then burst out laughing.

She thought Andrew was the kind of person who’d always put the company above himself, someone who’d sacrifice for the family if he had to.

But it turned out that he was just another selfish guy in a fancy mask. Emily wasn’t bothered about the shareholders’ meeting that was about to happen.

Even though Andrew owned 20% of the company and held the title of president, Bennett Group wasn’t the kind of place where one person could call all the shots.
