Chapter 398

Yamilet’s face was etched with disbelief, her eyes still wide open in death.

Lydia wasn’t scared at all after killing them. She wiped the blood off her hands with a look of disgust. “A bunch of losers got my hands all bloody. So gross.”

She tossed the handkerchief aside and said to her supporting system, “System, make their deaths look like an accident. And get a few DNA test reports ready for me.

“I want the Bennett Family to believe I’m their true blood, no matter how deep they dig.” The whole place fell silent, and she seemed like a madwoman talking to herself.

But in the next instant, the bodies of Henry and Yamilet vanished into thin air, not even a drop of blood left behind. It was like nothing had ever happened at all, as if the whole thing was just an illusion.

Even the person filming was so freaked out that the camera spun and crashed to the floor, cutting the video off right there. Emily stared at the now-black screen, completely spaced out, her gaze blank and unfocused.

It wasn’t until Austin’s slightly concerned voice sounded in her ear. “Emily?”

She turned her head stiffly. “Just now…” She seemed at a loss for words. Emily wondered, ‘If this video was real, did that mean Lydia wasn’t even from this world? And did she really have something like a supporting system with her?

‘And the female lead she mentioned, did that mean this whole world was just a fictional world? And was I the female lead Lydia was talking about?’ Countless thoughts crashed through Emily’s mind, pressing down on her chest like a boulder.

Even though the video was so unbelievable, it completely defied all the common sense Emily had built up over the years. If it was real, then every strange thing about Lydia suddenly made sense.

She could influence people’s minds, wipe surveillance footage, turn Bob’s death into an accident, and even alter DNA test results-all because she had that system.

Feeling the chill coming off Emily, Austin looked a little worried. “So, Emily, what are you going to do next?”

Of course, Austin would have someone verify the video, but honestly, even if they didn’t, they both knew in their hearts it was probably true. The fact that Cale had managed to blackmail Lydia for years with this was proof enough.

The shock from the video hit Emily so hard that she just sat there for ages, unable to process what she’d seen. She didn’t answer Austin right away. Instead, she kept her eyes glued to the pitch-black screen, her mind racing with thoughts.

After a long silence, she finally said, “This is the kind of evidence that could take Lydia down for good. We have to wait for the perfect moment to use it.”

Before that perfect moment arrived, she had to figure out a way to peel off Lydia’s halo of perfection, layer by layer. And as luck would have it, the upcoming promo event for the manga adaptation of Cloudland Winery was just the chance.

Emily’s plan was to pretend to apply for a job at Cloudland Winery, waiting for Lydia to steal her work under Tato’s name. But Lydia was unexpectedly chosen as the comic artist for Cloudland Winery before she could act.

This development didn’t just catch Emily off guard-the whole internet was shocked. A lot of people started speculating about some behind-the-scenes manipulation. After all, the hiring had just been announced and they already had a result; anyone would be suspicious.

It wasn’t until the official Cloudland Winery account released Lydia’s artwork that netizens finally shut up. Her drawings nailed every character’s look and expression, matching the original story perfectly.

1/2

But Emily, after seeing Lydia’s drawings, just went silent.
