Chapter 404

Following the incident at the Cloudland Winery press conference, Lydia became the target of widespread online outrage. She hadn’t dared to leave her room for days. But when she received a message from Emily, she had no choice but to step

outside.

When Lydia entered the private room, she took off her hat and mask and asked in a pretentious tone, “What did you want to

see me about?”

Emily had had enough of Lydia’s phony act. She didn’t even bother with pleasantries. “There’s something I think you’ll be very interested in,” she said. Then she turned the tablet around and hit play, letting Lydia watch the video.

It was obvious Lydia already knew about the video. Her face changed the instant it started playing.

When she saw herself at the end, actually saying the word “system” out loud, Lydia completely lost her composure. She suddenly swiped the tablet off the table, sending it crashing to the floor..

“It’s all fake. None of this is real!” Lydia yelled.

But if it were fake, Lydia wouldn’t be freaking out like this.

Emily just smiled, “So, you are a wandering soul from another world and not the real Lydia at all?”

Lydia couldn’t even look Emily in the eye. She answered, “I… I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Emily pressed further, “So to you, the whole world is just a book, and I’m the heroine of your story, is that it?

“But even if the world is a book, we’re still living and breathing people.

“You killed my parents, and you caused my grandpa and Bob to die. Don’t you ever worry they’ll come for you in your dreams?”

I’m not afraid.” Lydia suddenly shouted, “You’re all just a bunch of paper cutouts, and none of you are truly alive. I’m the only one who matters here. You should feel honored to be the stepping stones for my wealth and glory!”

Lydia’s words were an admission that the video was real.

But Lydia wasn’t the least bit flustered. She even looked a little smug. “So what if you know the truth? Would anyone believe you if you told them?

“With the system backing me up, no one in this world can escape being manipulated by me as long as I speak.

“Emily, you’re not the heroine here anymore. All your luck belongs to me now. Vincent, Jeremy, and the whole Bennett Family have all taken my side. What do you have left to fight me with?”

In contrast to Lydia’s hysterics, Emily remained calm. She even found herself wondering why Jeremy’s name had come up during Lydia’s rant. Unable to shake her curiosity, she asked Lydia about it.

Now that everything was out in the open, Lydia didn’t bother hiding anything. “In the book, you were the heroine. Vincent was the male lead, and Jeremy was the second lead. He’s the one who’d risk his life for you.

“But now, your parents and your brother are mine, the male lead is mine, and even the second lead is mine.

“So what if you’re the real Bennett Family blood? So what if you know everything? You still can’t beat me!”

Emily just smirked, her expression full of mockery. She had never wanted to compete with Lydia for anything.

1/0

Even after learning she was the true blood of the Bennett family, she never planned to fight with Lydia over the Bennett family’s affection. She had no interest in those who had long since abandoned her.
