Chapter 418

After being evaluated by specialists, it was confirmed that Vincent was mentally ill. He was transferred to the appropriate. psychiatric hospital. Coincidentally, the person living in the room next to him was Sean.

Sean’s breakdown came after a series of major upheavals and a devastating shock. He was terrified of anyone getting close, and all day long he would mutter, “I’m sorry. It was my fault,” or, “I won’t dare do it again.”

Vincent, on the other hand, seemed to have lost his grip after enduring one stressful ordeal after another. He didn’t mind people approaching him, but he was always rambling on about all sorts of nonsense.

The doctors also found some rather embarrassing wounds on him, the kind one’d expect from someone who’d gone way too far with certain adult games.

And there were traces of some unknown drugs in his system. These drugs seemed to be custom-made, and the doctors couldn’t figure out exactly what they were, but they did know they could amplify a person’s pleasure ten times.

The only one who might’ve known what those drugs were was Vincent, but he’d lost his mind. No matter how the doctors asked, they couldn’t get anything out of him.

When Andrew walked into the hospital room, he saw Vincent sitting on the bed, curling the blanket into a ball and patting it over and over.

Andrew never thought he’d ever see Vincent in such a state. They’d been brothers since childhood, and in Andrew’s eyes, Vincent had always been that untouchable type.

The doctor brought up those marks on Vincent’s body. Andrew just couldn’t believe it. The Vincent he knew always kept himself above reproach. There was no way he’d ever get involved in something like that.

But the doctor had no reason to lie to Andrew. And then there were those unidentified drugs. Andrew had a gut feeling that Emily had asked him to come here because of all this.

He tiptoed over to Vincent and asked, “Vincent, do you still recognize me?”

When Vincent heard Andrew’s voice, he turned his head, his face looking a bit blank. He stared at Andrew for what felt like ages before murmuring, “Andrew…”

Seeing that Vincent could still recognize him, Andrew let out a sigh of relief and asked, “Vincent, what on earth happened to you? How did you end up like this?”

Vincent’s eyes went blank for a few seconds, as if he were trying to make sense of the question. Then, all of a sudden, something seemed to click, and his whole body tensed up in panic.

He grabbed Andrew’s shoulders, his grip so tight it felt like he was trying to crush them.

“Andrew, go save Emily, hurry! Save her!” he shouted. “We were wrong, all of us. Everything was wrong. Don’t send Emily there. That place is hell. They’re all demons!

“Get away, all of you. Get away from me! I’m sorry, Emily. I’m so sorry… I shouldn’t have tricked you into coming out. I shouldn’t have dragged you there.

“I won’t eat it. I don’t want it. It’s filthy. Everything’s filthy!”

Vincent suddenly lost it, pounding his head with his fists one moment, clawing at his own body the next. His strength was terrifying. He tore his hospital gown to shreds in seconds, exposing his skin.

There were knife wounds, scratches, burns, and a lot of marks that could only mean one thing. Andrew never saw marks like that on Vincent before. He was rooted to the spot in shock, barely dodging Vincent’s wild swings.

Fortunately, the doctors rushed in just in time and gave Vincent a sedative.

Andrew was numb to it all. He just stood there in a daze, watching as Vincent went from a wild frenzy to calming down, the color draining from his own face bit by bit.

Andrew was never a fool. In fact, he was exceptionally smart. That’s how he ended up shouldering the Bennett family’s legacy at such a young age.

From those scattered, incoherent words Vincent had blurted out, Andrew had already managed to piece together some of

the truth.
