Chapter 420

Andrew’s face was as pale as a sheet, and he slumped to the floor. His hair, always perfectly styled, hung in messy strands over his forehead.

“I didn’t know. I didn’t know it was…” he kept mumbling those words, completely lost for what else to say.

Emily cut him off, “You didn’t know, so I’m just supposed to forgive you for handing me over? Pretend nothing ever happened and keep playing the good, obedient little sister? Seriously, you think that’s possible?”

Andrew was at a loss for words, unable to argue back. Because deep down, that was what he thought. But with Emily’s mocking gaze fixed on him, he just couldn’t bring himself to say it out loud.

For the first time in his life, Andrew, born with a silver spoon in his mouth and always surrounded by people who catered to him, felt utterly humiliated.

After a long silence, he said, “What will it take for you to forgive me?”

Emily couldn’t understand why the Bennett family was so intent on getting her forgiveness. If they had already abandoned her, then they should have just cut her off completely.

After doing all those awful things, they pretended to be saints. Emily thought, ‘What’s the difference between praising at prostitute for being more chaste than a nun?”

Emily stared at Andrew with a smile. She said, “Aren’t you supposed to be some businessman, Mr. Bennett? If you want my forgiveness, shouldn’t you at least stand where I stand before you even think about asking?”

She had never pretended to be a good person. Back when the Bennett family spoiled her, she was never the type to waste time feeling guilty. If something pissed her off, she’d get even right then and there.

It was only because the Bennett family doted on her that no one dared to cross her. Instead, they called her fiery and radiant, the brightest jewel of them all.

So, if Andrew wanted her forgiveness, he’d have to feel the same pain she did. Only then would he even have the right to ask if she could forgive him.

Andrew got what she was saying, and his face went even paler, like all the blood had drained out of him. His lips trembled, but he couldn’t get a single word out.

Andrew knew everything too well. If he wanted forgiveness, he’d have to go through the same hell she did. Only then would he even have the right to ask. He thought, ‘But a place like that… How could I ever survive there?”

Emily kept her eyes fixed on him, not missing a single trace of resistance or hesitation in his expression. She let out a soft, mocking laugh. “So, that’s all you are after all.”

Andrew’s heart skipped a beat. He didn’t dare meet Emily’s eyes anymore. Scrambling to his feet, he made a run for it, fleeing in a panic.

After he got back, Andrew was sick. It was like he was possessed by his own demons. Most of the time, he just sat there in a daze, staring off into space, and even when he managed to fall asleep, he’d jolt awake from nightmares.

Emily’s words kept echoing in his mind: “So, that’s all you are after all.”

It was as if she’d torn away every fig leaf he’d used to cover himself, exposing the ugliest, most selfish side of him, one so vile

even he couldn’t stand to face it.

But that’s not who he was. He knew he’d messed up. He felt sorry, and he truly wanted to make it up to Emily.

He honestly had no clue St. Gabriel Reform Academy was a place like that. If he’d known, there’s no way he would’ve sent Emily there.

Besides, everything that happened before was all just a huge misunderstanding. They’d only acted that way because Lydia manipulated them. They never wanted to hurt Emily.

Andrew thought, ‘Emily knew the whole truth. So why was she still so unwilling to forgive us?
