Chapter 424

Emily stared at Gale. “If you’re trying to play the family card to get me to come back and be the good Bennett girl, you can forget it. Because even if every single one of you dies, I still won’t forgive you.”

It was the first time she’d shown her hatred so openly, and it left Gale stunned. “You…” he stammered, but no words came

out.

Seeing him like that, Emily still felt it wasn’t enough. “Honestly, if Grandpa Charles hadn’t left me that 20% stake, I wouldn’t have just taken Bennett Group from you. I would’ve burned it to the ground.

“It was only because you were backing that Lydia dared to be so arrogant, pushing me to the edge over and over, and even getting Bob and Grandpa Charles killed. What makes you think I could ever forgive you?”

Gale stared at Emily, eyes wide with disbelief. He never thought her hatred could cut this deep.

Gale thought, ‘Aren’t we family? No matter how badly we messed up, as long as we are still alive, isn’t there always a way to make things right?’

Gale tried to speak, frustration and pain twisting his face, but in the end, all he could do was let out a heavy sigh.

“I know you’re angry,” Gale said. “If handing the company over to you will help you let go of that anger, I’m willing to

give

in.”

He put on his most gentle, loving tone. “I’m getting old, and Andrew’s missing. Lucas just doesn’t have what it takes. We’re family, Emily. Trusting you with the company puts my mind at ease.”

Emily smiled, and she cut straight through his scheme. “You think just because I’m one of the Bennetts. It’s no big deal if the company ends up in my hands for a while, right?

“You figure once you’ve sweet-talked me enough and Andrew comes back, you’ll just have me hand the company over, isn’t that it?”

Gale’s expression flickered, and though he didn’t respond, it was obvious what he was thinking. Seeing this, Emily felt not a shred of sadness or surprise.

‘After all, I’ve already seen the Bennett family for exactly what they are, she thought.

Caught red-handed, Gale’s face flashed with guilt for a moment, but then he put on that self-righteous look again, like he had every right to act this way.

Emily was a Bennett by blood, and that was an undeniable fact. No matter how angry she got, there was no change in that.

Gale thought, ‘Besides, she is fine, and Lydia is dead. Why couldn’t she just let bygones be bygones?”

Emily wasn’t surprised by Gale’s reaction. Her eyes glinted with scorn as she crushed his last bit of hope. “In a few days, I’m going to hold a press conference and publicly announce that Bennett Group will officially be renamed the Harper Group.”

Gale shot up from his seat, his face turning red with anger. “You’re out of your mind!”

Emily stared at him with a cold gaze, not the slightest bit intimidated by his rage. If anything, her face was openly mocking

him.

Gale’s face flushed with fury. “You’re a Bennett! No matter how much you try to deny it, Bennett blood still runs in your veins. Do you have any idea what you’re doing?”

Emily let out a cold laugh. “If I could. I’d wish I didn’t have a drop of Bennett blood in me. It makes me sick!”

Gale stared at her, stunned. “You….

In that moment, it hit Gale that Emily would never forgive them, and the Bennett family could never go back to those days of warmth and happiness.

The thought brought a wave of dull, aching pain that spread through Gale’s heart. But he still couldn’t help but try. “Emily, do you really hate us that much?”
