Chapter 172
Author’s POV
“Miss Elena!” Pack servants bowed respectfully as she stormed through the corridors of the David Pack’s grand
estate.
Despite the disapproval from both the Alpha’s mother and sister, no one dared show disrespect to the woman
their future Alpha had chosen as his mate–especially when Alpha Mercer treated her like his most precious
treasure.
But today, Elena was different. The gentle smile that usually graced her features had vanished, replaced by an
ice–cold expression that made even seasoned warriors step aside. She moved with singular purpose, ignoring
the greetings, her wolf energy radiating danger as she headed toward a specific wing of the mansion.
One servant glanced in the direction Elena was heading and paled visibly. “She’s going to Miss Queenie’s
quarters!”
Everyone in the Silver Claw Pack knew of the bitter rivalry between their future Luna and the Alpha’s sister.
“Miss Elena, you cannot enter!” A middle–aged woman–Queenie’s personal Omega attendant, Lucy–blocked
Elena’s path at the doorway, panic evident in her eyes.
Elena shoved her aside without ceremony, but Lucy stubbornly stepped in front of her again, arms
outstretched.
Without a word, Elena released a wave of her Luna aura, cold and commanding.
The pressure in the air shifted instantly, making Lucy’s breath hitch. Her legs trembled as the overwhelming dominance pushed down on her instincts.
She had no choice but to step aside.
“Queenie!” Elena called sharply, her voice slicing through the silence. “Come out now!”
A soft, mocking laugh drifted from the balcony. “Well, well… I kept hearing crows cawing earlier. Now I understand–some filthy creature has found its way to my door. How… unfortunate.”
Elena strode forward, yanking aside the white gauze curtains that separated the balcony from the bedroom. Her voice was sharp as steel when she demanded, “Where is my friend?”

Lucy hurried after her. “I’m sorry, Miss Queenie! I couldn’t stop Miss Elena from-”
Queenie waved her hand dismissively. “Never mind. You may go.”
“Yes, Miss.” The attendant bowed and retreated, closing the door behind her.

Queenie lounged in her hanging chair, swirling a glass of red wine between her fingers as her cool gaze settled
on Elena. “Elena, barging into my private chambers like this… how unbecoming of our future Luna, don’t you
think?”
Elena’s fists clenched at her sides, nails digging into her palms. Her breath trembled with suppressed rage, but
her gaze never wavered from Queenie’s.
She could feel her wolf pacing beneath her skin, snarling, urging her to lunge forward and rip the smugness off
Queenie’s face.
But Elena forced herself to stay still. She needed answers–not blood. Not yet.
“Drop the act, Queenie. I’m not here to play your games.”
Her lips curved into a taunting smile. “Play games? What are you talking about?Where your friend is?” She gave
a delicate shrug.
“How should I know? If your friend is missing, go search for her. Call the police if you must. Why come to me?”
Elena’s brow furrowed deeply, her voice dropping to a dangerous pitch that revealed her wolf’s fury. “I know it
was you! You took her–you kidnapped her!”
She stepped closer, the mate bond with Mercer humming with tension in her chest. “Let’s speak plainly. We
don’t need to circle each other like this. Whatever your purpose is in taking my friend, tell me directly. I’ll agree
to anything within my power–but my only condition is that you release Sarah immediately.”
Queenie’s fingers gently tapped against her wine glass, her eyes glittering with amusement. “What if I demanded that from now on, you address me as ‘honored mistress‘ whenever we meet?”
“I would accept,” Elena replied without hesitation, her wolf’s protective instincts overriding any concern for her pride.
“Oh?” Queenie raised an eyebrow, her crimson lips curling upward. “And if my condition were that you leave my brother forever and never again set foot within the Silver Claw territory… would you agree to that as well?”
Elena’s jaw tightened, the bond within her aching at the mere thought. “I would.”

“Hahaha!” Queenie erupted into laughter, clearly delighted by Elena’s response. “Oh, Elena, you’re truly entertaining! So my brother means this little to you?”
She leaned forward, her voice dripping with venom.
“Weren’t you the one who claimed to love him so deeply that you stayed by his side for five years?

Five whole years waiting patiently, and now that you’ve finally risen from nobody to becoming our Luna, you’d
give it up so easily?”
Her eyes narrowed. “My foolish brother is so utterly captivated by you that he even defied our mother, declaring he would marry no one else. If he heard what you just said, wouldn’t it break his heart?”
She took another sip of her wine, studying Elena over the rim of her glass.
“What kind of spell has this Sarah cast on you that you’d abandon my brother and the wealth and status you’ve
struggled so long to attain? Fascinating, truly.”
Elena’s hands clenched into fists at her sides, her wolf clawing beneath her skin with barely contained rage.
“Are you finished? If you’re done talking, hand her over.”
“I would if I could,” Queenie replied with false innocence, spreading her hands. “But how can I give you
someone when I don’t even know where she is?”
Elena’s eyes flashed with wolf–gold for a split second, her chest rising and falling rapidly. “So you were just toying with me?”
Queenie shrugged, blinking with feigned innocence. “Indeed. And what can you possibly do about it?”
Before she could react, Elena snatched the wine glass from her hand.
“Elena! What are you doing?” Queenie snapped, her composure finally cracking.
The words had barely left her mouth when Elena slammed the glass against the wall.
CRASH! The rim shattered, red liquid splashing like blood against the pristine white walls.
In the next heartbeat, before Queenie could process what was happening, the jagged edge of the broken glass was pressed against her throat. One small movement, and her carotid artery would be severed.
“TELL ME!” Elena’s voice had changed completely, her wolf now evident in her eyes, which glowed with dangerous intensity. “WHERE IS MY FRIEND?!”
