Summer’s POV
Instead of answering, he moved toward me with predatory grace, sitting on the edge of the bed. His hand came up to cup my cheek, thumb brushing across my lower lip.
“I couldn’t sleep last night,” he murmured, his eyes locked on mine. “I was too busy thinking about you.”
Heat surged to my cheeks before I could stop it. I looked away, flustered, cursing how easily he could make me blush with just a few words.
He leaned down, plucking a rose petal from my cheek. ““If you don’t get ready soon, I might just climb into this bed and fuck you senseless.”
Then he pressed his lips against mine.
I should have pushed him away, should have maintained some dignity. Instead, I moaned into his mouth, my hands fisting in his hair to pull him closer. With a growl of approval, he deepened the kiss, his tongue sliding against mine as he pushed me back onto the pillows.
His weight settled partially on top of me, one thick thigh pressing between my legs as he devoured my mouth. I moaned at the delicious pressure against my core, my hands fisting in his shirt.
“That’s it, baby,” he rasped against my lips. “Let me hear how much you want my cock inside that tight little cunt.”
I gasped at his filthy words, my body responding with a rush of wetness between my thighs. His hand slid under my sleep shirt, moving upward until he cupped my breast, thumb circling my nipple until it hardened into a desperate peak.
“Alex,” I whimpered as his mouth moved to my neck. I swear I could feel his sharp canines grazing my skin. A shiver ran down my spine, but I couldn’t push him away. I couldn’t.
I didn’t know what had changed in my world, but I wanted him to continue. As if knowing my thoughts, he kissed my cheek a few times, then moved to the spot on my neck where his mark should go. When his fangs scraped across it, I cried out, grabbing his hair. Heat pooled in my belly.
“You’re fucking soaked,” he growled, his thigh pressing harder against my center. “I can smell how wet your pussy is for me. Want me to taste it, baby? Want me to lick that sweet cunt until you’re screaming my name?”
“Please,” I begged, not even sure what I was asking for.
His lips curved into a triumphant smile against mine. “Please what? Tell me what you need, Summer. Be explicit.”
Before I could answer, the door suddenly flew open, making us both freeze. Alexander snarled as he turned to see who had interrupted. Lyra.
“Lyra, when will you break this bad habit of barging into people’s rooms?” Alexander asked with obvious irritation.
I climbed out of bed, noticing rose petals scattered across both Alexander’s clothes and my skin. I didn’t know what was wrong with me, but I desperately wanted to pick every petal off his skin. With my tongue. Fuck. Where were these thoughts coming from?
“Sorry,” Lyra said, not sounding sorry at all. Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she took in our disheveled state. “Breakfast is ready, and I thought you’d want to know Ethan is looking for you. Something about border security.”
Alexander cursed under his breath. “Tell him I’ll be down in five minutes.”
“Five minutes?” Lyra smirked. “That’s hardly enough time for-”
“OUT,” Alexander roared.

Lyra giggled as she backed out, closing the door with a decisive click. Alexander turned back to me with hunger still evident in
his eyes.
“We’ll continue this later,” he promised, voice thick with desire. “And next time, I’m locking the fucking door.”
He placed one final, possessive kiss on my lips before reluctantly pulling away. As he straightened his clothes, I noticed the impressive bulge straining against his zipper and couldn’t help the small thrill of satisfaction knowing I’d affected him so strongly.
“Don’t look so pleased with yourself, little wolf,” he warned, noticing my gaze. “When I finally get you underneath me, you won’t be wearing that smug smile. You’ll be too busy screaming my name.”
After he left, I collapsed back onto the bed, my entire body humming with unfulfilled desire. How had I gone from fearing this man to craving his touch in such a short time?
During breakfast, Lyra couldn’t contain her excitement as she filled me in on the latest pack gossip.
“You won’t believe what happened to Suzanna yesterday,” she said with barely concealed glee. “Someone actually punched her in the face at the Wolf’s Den bar! Apparently, she was running her mouth about you and Felix, and some pack member–we still don’t know who–just snapped. Broke her nose and left some nasty scratches across her cheek too.”
“That’s… quite unfortunate,” I said carefully, though I couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at my lips.
“Unfortunate? It’s divine justice,” Lyra declared. “After how she’s treated you? Please.”
“A rather coincidental accident, don’t you think?”
Lyra’s eyes widened slightly before she gave me a sly smile. “My brother does have a knack for… solving problems.”

The days that followed were a blur of activity. I spent most of my time at the hospital with Felix, while Alexander seemed constantly caught up in pack business. Our paths rarely crossed, save for brief moments in hallways or the occasional dinner where his heated stares promised things he hadn’t yet delivered. Each night, though, fresh roses would appear in my room–a silent reminder that I hadn’t been forgotten.
Saturday evening arrived with a flurry of activity. After collecting Felix from the hospital–his face lighting up at the prospect of attending the ball–Lyra swept us both into her suite for what she called “the full transformation experience.”
While Felix rested on Lyra’s plush sofa, she worked her magic on me, styling my hair in loose waves and applying makeup that somehow enhanced my features without making me look overdone.
When I emerged from Lyra’s bathroom in the emerald green dress that hugged my curves before flowing out at the hips, Felix gasped.
“Mom, you look beautiful,” he said, his good eye shining with pride.
“Indeed, she does,” came Alexander’s deep voice from the doorway. I turned to find him leaning against the frame, his gaze traveling slowly over my body in a way that made heat pool in my stomach. He was devastating in his black tuxedo, the fabric straining slightly across his broad shoulders.
A flash of emerald at his cuffs and throat caught my eye–his cufflinks and tie were the exact shade of green as my dress. My heart fluttered. Had he done that on purpose? He wanted us to match. The thought made my cheeks warm–it was stupidly sweet, and I loved it.
“I’ll take Felix down to get settled,” Lyra said with a knowing smirk. “You two can… follow when you’re ready.”
After they left, Alexander crossed the room in three long strides, pulling me against him. “You’re fucking gorgeous,” growled, his lips brushing my ear. “I want to hide you away, where only I get to see you.”

Before I could respond, he captured my mouth in a kiss that left me gasping. Then, just as quickly, he pulled away. “We should go down. Before I decide to rip that pretty dress off you.”
As we descended the grand staircase, Felix waiting for us at the bottom with Lyra, I noticed my son studying Alexander with unexpected interest.
“Is he your boyfriend now, Mom?” Felix asked when Alexander stepped away to speak with one of his pack members.
I choked slightly. “It’s… complicated, honey.”
Felix’s hand found mine, squeezing gently. “I like him. He visits me at the hospital when you’re not there. Brings me books and tells me about the pack.”
Alexander had been visiting my son without telling me?A rush of warmth spread through my chest, softening something inside me I didn’t even know was braced.
“He makes the doctors nervous,” Felix continued with a small smile. “But he makes them try harder with my treatments. And… “he hesitated, “he talks about you a lot. He really likes you, Mom.”
Before I could process this information, Alexander returned, placing a possessive hand at the small of my back. “The pack is eager to meet you both properly,” he said, guiding us toward the packed ballroom.
To my surprise, we were greeted with warmth and curiosity rather than the hostility I’d expected. Pack members came forward to introduce themselves, many crouching to Felix’s level to welcome him specifically.
“Alexander has never brought anyone to these events before,” a kindly older woman whispered to me. “You must be very special indeed.”

As the evening progressed, I found myself relaxing, especially after seeing how carefully the pack members included Felix in conversations, never treating him differently because of his eye or making him feel self–conscious.
When a slower song began to play, Alexander appeared at my side. “Dance with me,” he said, not a question but not quite a
command either.
On the dance floor, his arm wrapped firmly around my waist, pulling me closer than was strictly proper. “Every man in this room is watching you,” he murmured against my hair. “And I can’t fucking blame them.”
I laughed softly. “I’m pretty sure it’s you they’re watching. The mighty Alpha showing interest in a woman.”
His hand tightened on my waist. “Not just any woman. My woman.”
The possessiveness in his voice should have angered me, but instead, it sent a thrill down my spine. As we swayed to the music, his body pressed intimately against mine, I began to think that perhaps I could have a place here, with him. Perhaps Felix and I both could.
The fantasy shattered with the sound of gasps rippling through the ballroom. Alexander stiffened, his body going rigid against mine before he slowly turned toward the entrance.
There, looking smug and dangerous, stood Alpha Foster. And on his arm, wearing a triumphant smile despite her still–visible bruised nose and poorly concealed scratch marks across her cheek, was Suzanna.
